Wavy Lady
You might be one of them.
You know, one of those women who creates hair envy as you pass others by?
You know those luscious waves are making us jealous don't you? Yes, yes....we know a big key is using a CLOSED curling iron, starting a few inches from the root and winding the rest of the section around the outside of the barrel. But there's another important part of this look - the styling product! If we can't get those curls to last, what's the point? So tell us, oh pretty one: What hair product do you use to get that look just right?

Hey, DeLush readers! We want to know what's in your bag!
Specifically, we want to know what lipstick or lip gloss is currently your absolute favorite - that one you take everywhere. Yes, yes...we know that there is a multitude of choices, and that you most likely own a frightening amount of them (what, is that just us?). However, at any given time there's always one that makes its way into the heaviest rotation and becomes a favorite. Tell us! Right now, what's YOUR most-used lipstick or gloss?

Reader Roundtable: Famous Complexions - Whose Do You Envy?
You know who she is. The one whose skin looks annoyingly perfect even in her candid pics on the way to the grocery store or coming out of the gym. Okay, so she may have the benefit of weekly facials, regular visits to the dermatologist and loads of free high-quality skincare products...but still. Girl's got some great skin.

DeLush Reader Roundtable: False Lashes For "The Rest of Us"?
Ah, the false eyelashes, they are back in a big, big way. At least that's what the celeb photos and magazine features tell us.
La Lohan (she's said she won't go anywhere without them), Beyoncé, Paris, Madonna, Oprah and more - they've all rocked the false eyelashes and made us wonder if something so small could make us look that good, too. With the new, more natural-looking versions out lately, are false lashes a real working option for us non-celebs? Are they worth it, or too much of a hassle?
Tell us what you think in the comment section. (And if you have a favorite brand, share it with the DeLush readers!)

DeLush Roundtable: What's Your Favorite Fall Trend?
So you've seen our favorite trends for the Fall 2006 season, now tell us: which is your favorite new beauty trend? Is it gold smoky eyes or black nail polish -- or a trend DeLush hasn't covered?
As for me (Jen), I am very excited about the return of red lipstick. Where once I thought it was bright and perhaps a bit too much for work, right now it seems classic and traditional and I find myself wearing red or other bright lipsticks almost every day. I am also glad that pale skin is "in", because I'm so tired of doing the self-tanning thing.

DeLush Roundtable: What's Your All-Time Favorite Cool Weather Fragrance
When the air starts getting crisp, the tree leaves turn, and you get to pull all those yummy warm sweaters out of storage, is there a special scent you bring out to mark the change of season?
Here are some of our thoughts on fragrances for the cool weather months:
"Right now, I think I'd have to go with the original Prada. I love how spicy and warm the fragrance is, and it's just nice to mark the end of summer by putting away the florals and wearing something with a more complex, layered scent. I've ordered the new Bagley Mischka fragrance as well, and that may be my new scent this fall." -- Jen
"The only fragrance that I wear solely in the colder months is Clinique Simply. It's just so warm and enveloping. I actually think it smells like slightly rotting pumpkins and leaves (I know it sounds gross but I love it). It makes me feel like I'm wearing a warm cashmere scarf on a cold autumn day. I guess that's why it doesn't work so well for me in the summer!" -- Alissa
"I have three favorite cold weather fragrances: Lolita Lempicka, Hanae Mori and Pink Sugar. I wear heavier fragrances that would overpower me during the hot seasons, but work well on cold, crisp days. Things that smell edible - warm, vanilla scents and kind of dense fruity perfumes." -- Toya
"I get new favorites all of the time - I'm always on the prowl for the next great fragrance. But right now I'd have to say that my favorites for cooler months are Prada (the original fragrance - it's spicy and sophisticated), Vanille Noire du Mexique by La Maison de la Vanille (for when I want comforting vanilla enveloping me) and Bulgari Omnia (I love its sultriness)." -- Melissa
"Nude by Bill Blass (an oldie, but so warm and not too sweet), Brit by Buberry and Glamorous by Ralph Lauren" -- Jamie
Now we want to know: what is your favorite fall fragrance, and why?

DeLush Roundtable: Give Us the Dirt On Your Beauty "Cheats"
Okay, so we all have our secrets, right? And that includes those beauty cheats that we do when we're in a rush, feeling lazy or just don't think anyone's looking. Hey, we all do it, embrace it!
For instance, Melissa will sometimes go for up to 3 days without taking off her mascara, just wiping the smudge off in the morning and *gasp!* RE-applying another coat or two. Jen doesn't always feel like actually getting down and scrubbing her feet so she'll scoot them on the shower floor instead. Toya sometimes uses her facial scrub as a cleanser and gets to skip a step, and when she's been someplace smoky and doesn't want to have to wash her hair that night, she sprays Febreeze in it!
Come on, tell us your beauty cheats!

DeLush Roundtable: Best Way to Tan at Home
With so many new choices on the market this year, what are your favorite self-tanning products? Do you like the new moisturizers with a little color for face and body or do you like the quick effects of the original self-tanning products? We want to know!
Jen's Favorites: For the best color, L'Oreal Sublime Glow moisturizer. But for a spontaneous trip to the beach, you can't beat Coppertone's quickness. Both are easy to apply (read: no exfoliating necessary) and give me color without streaks.
Melissa's Favorites: My favorite for ultimate ease and quick application is TanTowels. I've also had success with Clarins' Self-Tanning Milk, but I've very rarely used self-tanner for the last couple of years and use bronzers instead.

As we wrap our Drugstore Favorites Week here on DeLush and have confirmed that you DON'T have to spend a ton of money on quality beauty products, now's your chance to tell us what drugstore items you can't live without! And if there's another beauty product from the drugstore that you want us to test here at DeLush, let us know about that as well.
*Jen's All-Time Faves: "Dove Energy Glow moisturizer, Nexxus Diametress Shampoo, Rimmel nail color, and Prestige Automatic Eyeliner. A product that Melissa reviewed that I just think is fantastic is Olay's Eye Transforming Cream. It's better than any expensive department store cream I've ever tried. I've very nearly given up concealer."
*Melissa's Favorites: "As always, Maybelline Full 'n Soft Mascara in Waterproof Black - but also Bonne Bell Skin Musk Oil and Blistex Silk 'n Shine, L'Oreal Natural Match and L'Oreal Coleur Experte (both of which have given me fabulous color and shine at home) and most recently the FABULOUS new lip product from Aquafina which is available in some Walmart locations now, Aquafina Hydrating Lip Oil. If you can find it in your town, snag it up and give it a try!"

DeLush Roundtable: The Home Haircolor Experience
If you subscribe to our newsletter, you might have noticed that this week's beauty tip was all about at-home haircolor. I was inspired to write that after a long search over a couple of weeks for a new color. I've dyed my hair since I was about 12 or 13, so I have no idea what my true natural color is, only that my roots are dark enough to be noticable when I dye my hair my usual light beige or light ash blonde. In the interest of finally matching my eyebrows, and perhaps less upkeep, I decided to go brunette. Having never colored my hair darker than my natural roots, I was at a loss for what shade of brown to try. Eventually, I settled for Light Golden Brown, which was a good match for my skin tone without going too dark at once.
Well, this weekend, I took the plunge and colored my hair. It was a long 30 minutes, and it looked like it was going to work, but when I rinsed my hair out, I was really shocked. It wasn't that different from the last color. Even worse, when I styled it this morning, it took on an orange glow. I can't figure out what I did wrong; I keep re-reading the instructions to see if I missed a step. The lesson here, girls? The color strand test is your friend on major color changes.
I've had a couple of bad coloring experiences in the past, but mostly through my own fault. I colored my hair platinum blonde for several years, but when I did it myself, the back of my hair didn't always come out right, almost in zebra stripes. But for the most part, I've had great experiences with at-home color.
Now, it's your turn. Tell us about a great experience, your favorite hair color product, or your worst haircolor nightmare. And if you have any tips for toning down my hair -- please, I need the advice.

DeLush Roundtable: Share Your Local Beauty Favorites With Us!
Is there a special boutique where you live or vacation that makes your favorite perfume or lip balm? Is there a local merchant at a farmer's market whose lotion or soap you love? Tell us about your local beauty favorites and go ahead and link to them so we can enjoy them, too!
For example, one of my favorites at the local farmer's market is "The Soap Lady", as she is referred to in my house! Actually, she is the woman behind Cherokee Soap, at Nature's Emporium Soap Company. And every market season I have to STOCK UP on this stuff for myself and for gifts for friend and family for all occasions (I bought bars and bars this past September for Christmas!). The scents are incredible, the packaging alone is gift-worthy with its artistic beauty (the pics don't do it justice), and the soap is incredibly soft. Go here to buy some now! It's very reasonably-priced for the quality you get at around $6.50 for each thick bar. The commerce site isn't the easiest to navigate, but it's SO worth it! They even have scents just for men! My favorites? Madagascar Vanilla, Carrot Oatmeal, Goddess, Mountain Morning...uh-oh, I'd better stop now!
I also have a favorite place down in Siesta Key, Florida where I like to get custom essential perfume oils blended every time we go down there (at $11.50 a piece how can I resist?). You can mix any combo you like, and I love the convenient roller-ball sized applicators. It's called Lotions & Potions, and you can go here to check it out! (It might be easier to call the order in if you have any issues online or want to combine fragrances.) My favorite combinations? 1/2 Vanilla Musk/ 1/2 Razzleberry and 1/2 Vanilla Musk / 1/2 Egyptian Musk. I get compliments each time I use them, especially the Vanilla/Egyptian combo.
Now it's YOUR turn!

DeLush Roundtable: Share The Colors that Liven Up Your Look
Is there one special shade you use on your cheeks that makes your skin tone glow? Does a certain combination of eye shadows make your blue eyes POP? It's time to share your favorite shades with other DeLush readers!
Here's how it works:
1) Tell us your skin tone (fair, medium, olive, dark, etc.).
2) Tell us your hair color.
3) Tell us your eye color.
4) NOW, tell us what what specific shade/product you use on your eyes, lips, cheeks, etc. that you can ALWAYS rely on to look radiant.
For example:
I (Melissa) have light-to-medium skin with not much natural flush, brown hair (currently!), and hazel eyes. No matter WHAT I do or try, I always know that if I go to the dark lavendar or grey eye shadows with a darker violet shade along the lash line, and a highlighting shadow on the brow bone, my eyes look vibrant and awake. (I like to use Lorac Eye Shadow in Innocence, Smashbox Single Eyeshadow in Vapor, and Revlon Colorstay Eyeliner in Vixen for examples.) My favorite eye shadow set is L'Oreal Wear Infinite in Subtle Berries. Also, blush that looks bright with a touch of peach looks good on my non-naturally-rosy skin. Mauves and darker roses just tend to look muddy on me. I also don't have the coloring to pull of a ton of bronzer if it's not JUST the right shade. For me, one of the most perfect blush colors is Benefit's Dandelion. It looks bright before you apply it, but it goes on sheer and creates a fabulous glow on my cheeks.
Now, if you have my coloring/hair/eye color, perhaps you haven't tried these color combos yet. But do you see how we can help each other out here? Share with your fellow DeLush readers! Tell us what you turn to in eye shadows, blush, lipsticks, etc. to make the most of your coloring.

Personally, I've always been a little afraid of red lipstick, but after I saw Uma Thurman in those Louis Vuitton ads, I've been inspired. So help me out here - tell me what shade of red YOU love. DeLush Roundtable: Razor Talk
Melissa and I started discussing our favorite razors a few days ago and discovered that this is a product where we both definitely have our favorite and we're pretty passionate about it! I, for one, will not travel anywhere without my Gillette M3 Power Razor. I mean, it's not all pink and girly, but the battery inside of this razor makes it a force to be reckoned with. I was a little scared of turning it on when I was shaving anywhere other than my legs, but I quickly realized that I was no more likely to cut myself and the shave is much closer with the battery power turned on.
So what is your favorite razor? Is it a women's razor or did you steal it from your husband/boyfriend? (We won't tell!)

DeLush Roundtable: What is your fall style?
Now that fall has arrived, I've been changing out my wardrobe and changing up my beauty routine. As it gets colder, I end up making a lot of changes to my routine. I use deeper moisturizers for my hair and body. I have to exfoliate more often to keep my dry skin from getting flaky. Like I mentioned in my review for today (below), I change out my fragrance wardrobe and put all the really floral fragrances away until spring.
I will be giving you some recommendations for changes to your beauty routine and make-up from one of Bobbi Brown's make-up artists this week, but first, we'd like to hear from you.

DeLush Rountable: Your Signature Scent
Note: This is a sticky entry. There is a new post for today down below, but don't forget to tell us about your signature scent!
Every woman should have at least one. Something you put on that makes you feel exactly how you envision yourself that day. It changes your mood, makes you feel sexy, or gives you comfort each time your walk breezes the scent back to you. Mine? That's a tough one because perfumes make me swoon, but my favorites right now are Hanae Mori Butterfly, Nanette Lepore, and (shut up, it's yummy) Dessert Beauty Taste Deliciously Kissable Fragrance.
