DeLush Is Crazy About Lip Balm Week: The Roundtable

Your DeLush Divas are passionate about all beauty products, but we get pretty excited when we start talking about lip balms.  Because who doesn't like to have soft, moisturized lips?  I mean, my work purse is loaded up with stuff for my lips, but even in a tiny purse, ya gotta have the lip balm.  We're going to be talking about lip balm all week long, but today, we want to hear from you.   So what's YOUR favorite lip balm?

Usually I don't like pots of things because I hate getting messy fingers, but L'occitane has a vanilla lip balm that has the perfect amount of sheen, darkens your lips just a hint, smells heavenly (just like all of their stuff), and is super hydrating. I love it.

Oooh, is this ever a tough one! I'm pretty fickle about lip balms too, but the one I always end up returning to is Burt's Bees. I prefer the pot to the stick (especially since I just had a stick melt on me in the car on an especially hot day).

And since I've been having some nasty lip-peeling lately that even Burt's Bees can't seem to fix, I've found another excellent balm: Badger Lip and Body Balm in Highland Mint. (They have tons of different flavors, but I like the spearmint smell and taste the best.) They come in a tin or a stick, and the tin is super huge. The consistency is a little oily since the base is extra virgin olive oil, but in terms of comfort and moisturization it can't be beat. Unlike Burt's Bees, there's no tingly essential oils in here, so I think it works especially well as a healer. I'd highly recommend!

Hands down, my favorite is the CO Bigelow Mentha Lip Shine from Bath and Body Works. It is shiny, moisturizing and freshens breath (really). I also love the Lip Butters from The Body Shop. I haven't had chapped or flaky lips since I started using this combination every night before I go to bed...Lip Butter first, then Mentha Lip Shine on top.

Lush has some fantastic lip balms too...I like them all, but stand-outs are the Chocolate Whip Stick which is like smearing real chocolate on your lips and the Lip Lime which has a bit of glossy shine. Both are super moisturizing, and would be my favorites if I didn't have to reapply so often.

My favorite lip balm is Blistex Clear Advance Lip Balm, SPF 30. I originally bought it for my boyfriend because it had a man on the front and was all gray and masculine, but I started trying it and I've been using it for a few years now. My second favorite would be Philosphy's Kiss Me tinted lip balm in the pot, it's one of the only higher-end lip balms I've actually used up.

I have always loved lip balms. I have them all over my house. My favorite is Carmex, but I will try anything in looking for the next new favorite.

I really like the Kiss Therapy from mark. The tin is huge, and it smells like roses. The texture is really nice.

I love that you guys are having lip balm week because I love hearing about new lip balms.

I received some Keihls lip balm (pot) for Christmas, and it does an acceptable job, but I'm not crazy about it. My sisters on the other hand, love it. My personal favorite was also Philosophy's Kiss Me balm.

My all-time favorite is Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm (stick.) I haven't tried any others since trying it about three years ago! I'm always wanting to try new ones, though, and especially like spearmint and/or tinted balms. I can't wait to see what everyone else recommends!

I like so many kinds, but the 2 I always come back to are Blistex (in the green tube) and Neutrogena Lip Boost intense moisture therapy. A couple times a year, I have some kind of allergic reaction (I think) where my lips get all itchy and peely, and I go through about a tube of each of these in a week.

Hi there,
I've never been on the site before, but I thought I'd add my two cents about my favorite lip balm. Alba Terra Tints in Blaze is really nice. It's produced by Avalon Organics in California, has an spf 15, a cool mint smell, and a nice deep rasberry colour. It's slightly matte, but when you smooth a clear shiny gloss over top it creates the same effect as the beach beauties you see in the magazines these days.

i personally can't do the chapstick thing, because i really don't like the menthol in it. but i do have a completely unnecessary stash of balm that i love:

C.O. Bigelow's Sweet Almond Oil formula is pretty, pretty, PRETTY. seriously.

Blistex Silk & Shine is next to the bed every night.

LUSH Whipstick (mmmmm...chocolate)

Blistex Spa Effects trio (yummy)

Smith's Rosebud Salve (cheap and so soft)

Bath & Body Works Vanilla Sugar is maybe one of the best flavors ever

The Supernatural Lip Gloss line from Philosophy is hands down the best product out there for scent, texture,"lastability"!

It really wakes up your lips -- gives a light tingle when you put it on -- has a minty scent and comes in several yummy colors!

What I have in my collection: Burt's Bees (excellent), C.O. Bigelow Mentha Shine (excellent), Bath and Body Works Pure Simplicity Rosemary balm (excellent...comes in a pot and has a light minty fragrance), Philosophy Kiss Me (average...fabulous sugar cookie scent, but a bit oilier on the lips than I like), Origins Cover Your Mouth (similar to Burt's Bees for a LOT more money), Le Couvent des Minimes (a branch of L'Occitane) Nutritive Honey & Shea lip balm AND L'Occitane tinted balm (very good...not crazy about the scents, but no complaints on performance), and Neutrogena tinted balm (this one I don't care for...it leaves an almost gritty feeling on the lips. This is why I shy away from most "drugstore" items). I use the Burt's Bees regularly before applying makeup, and the Pure Simplicity Rosemary and C.O. Bigelow Mentha Shine are in my nightstand drawer for bedtime application.

Sorry so long. At least you didn't ask about lip gloss...

I forgot MAC! I have a tinted moisturizer stick in "Mon Cherry" and am hoping they will be continuing this line and expanding color selections. I love all MAC lip products...the vanilla scent is the ultimate. I have not tried the tinted moisturizer in the pots.

ahhhhhhhhhhhhh! I am addicted to lip balms. I'd say I buy a new one every other week, alternated with lip glosses.
I have Keihls(alright, when I NEED lip help)
I have Fruits and Passion melon(fave scent)
I have chapstick mint SPF15 for sunny days outside.
I have Body Shop cranberry(nice sparkle)
I have a Labello grape(good, not great)
Fave is still Carmex in a pot I'd say.
Can't wait to try all the others people have recommended!

I have tons of Bonne Bell lip glosses/lip balms lying around. They smell good, feel good, and are fairly cheap, so I keep my middle-school-addiction alive. :D

I too, am a Carmex fan. I prefer the sqeezee tube, it's got great shine. Kinda hate the flavor though, but I deal. I am also quite sweet on the Sephora Lip Baume. It's great like Carmex but without the nasty flavor. I used to be a die hard Burt's Bees stick girl, but I think my lips have rebelled against it and it seems to make them actually hurt when use it now! I am one of those crazy girls who MUST have lip goo on at all times. My lips feel as though they are throbbing with dryness if they are not slathered in some kind of goo at all times! Bonnie Bell is an all time flavor fave, tropical punch and mint choco-chip being my personal vices, but they serve no moisture providing purpose.

Among luxury lip balms, my new favorite is the Jo Malone Lip Conditioner. I was grouchy on a shopping trip to San Francisco, not finding what I wanted and found this on my way out of Neiman. It smells good, tastes good and works really well. Also has a little sunscreen. From the grocery store I have been using Badger Balm (in Tangerine)

Have you tried Lancome's Juicy Tubes? I have heard great things about it but am hesitant to spend $17 on lip gloss. The last lip gloss I tried from Estee lauder cost about that much, but other than smelling sort of nice, it had no staying power.

Normally, I am a chapstick girl myself, but I do venture out every once in a while. Any opinions would be helpful, thanks.

I swear by Caswell-Massey Natural Therapy lip balm with Vitamin E. I have been using it for years and cant live without it. I also recently discovered MAC Tinted Lip Conditioner in Mon Cherry and it has a great vanilla scent, & I love the smoothness and perfect sheer tint!

Philosophy Kiss Me lip-balm - it has a jello-like texture which I love, smells like chocolate-orange, leaves a sheen that makes my lips look unbelievably moist, and it lasts as long as you can resist licking it off.

and it's only $10 for a 1oz pot. : )

I'm also a big fan of the Body Shops seasonal balms, especially their chocolate-strawberry on Valentines.
