Wow, I can't believe no one's commented yet! Come on, sistas - share your beauty secrets!!!

Okay, here are some of my favorites - on me, my African American/women of color clients, family members and friends:
I absolutely *love* the L'Oreal True Match line. L'Oreal will forever have a fan in me on the strength of these products. I have tried them all - foundation, powder, concealer, blush ... I haven't been unhappy with any of them and have recommended the line to women of every color and all have reported their satisfaction. I personally wear the Warm 8 Creme Café foundation and powder, the Warm Medium/Dark concealer, and the Warm Dark blush or Neutral Dark blush. Love them!

I also recommend MAC foundations - they have an awesome range of colors and textures - almost every woman of every color should be able to find something to please her. In fact, I love MAC in general and have loads of MAC products.

Black women and other women of color look beautiful when they use a wonderful, sparkly bronzer as blush. Not so much sparkle that you look like you've rubbed your face in glitter, but enough to give it a glow. I recommend MAC Bronzer in Refined Golden or CARGO blush in Coral Beach.

Women of color look great in highly pigmented blushes. Though the blushes may look almost flourescent in the packaging, when applied to our naturally bronzed/brown skin, they appear natural and pretty. I highly recommend MAC Dollymix, Breezy, Raizin and Loverush; NARS Taos; and CARGO Panama.

While we can wear almost any color (in the right shade, of course), neutral shadow colors are always great. MAC Honey Lust is fantastic, as are Vanilla, Sable, and Brun. Revlon makes great shadow quads that work, too.

I also recommend MAC for the widest range of glosses. If you're looking for a great red, try Tarte Supergloss (dual-sided) in Bonnie and Clyde. For a beautiful, true red lipstick, try MAC's Russian Red. Of course, we also look great in pinks, corals/oranges, and neutrals. The possibilities are endless!

I am encouraged that more make-up brands/companies are starting to address the needs of the woman of color. We are a huge, mostly untapped market and I think it's about time that we are recognized!

go toya! it is weird - where are the comments? here's two cents from the asian side:

i've had great luck with foundations and concealers from prescriptives in truly matching my skin tone. but lately i've been sucked into the bare escentuals world and am loving the ease of the foundation powder.

where i have trouble is eye shadows. i'm not brave enough to use the heavily pigmented stuff, but i'm bored with my neutrals. does anyone have anything that's just right?

What a timely topic - I just posted some recs for red lipsticks that have worked for me on my blog a few hours ago, and now the discussion continues...

I'm a dark-skinned Asian, and I swear by L'Oreal's True Match pressed powder (W6 Sun Beige), which I wear instead of foundation. For blush, I often switch between L'Oreal Feel Naturale blush (Mocha Rose) and Bare Escentuals Face Color (Warmth). I have also been using shimmery eyeshadows from Stila (Wheat, Twig, Barefoot Contessa) and MAC (Crystal, Vex, Club) in the last few days, and some of them seem to fit the "high pigment" category; then again, I'm not too adventurous when it comes to eyeshadow, so I stick to mostly shimmery formulas in either neutrals or metallics, and use darker matte shadows as eyeliner.

Aside from the red lipstick recommendations that I mentioned on my blog (eg. Rouge Catalan by Fresh and Underworld by MAC), I also wear Maybelline's Wet Shine Fusion in Rose'n'Shine and Revlon's Super Lustrous gloss in Cherries in the Glow, both of which are rosy enough to look like my natural lip color. And while I used up my tube of this color back in college, Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey looks pretty good, too.

Thanks for this.

I actually like a natural look so use MAC's Select Tint & Select Cover-up. I also use MAC's Sheertone Blush in Gingerly.

What I would like to find is a natural looking bronzer or a blush with a more sun kissed look. I don't trust anything with shimmer to look natural on me, though.

Also, what's good for peeling and post-inflammatory marks and scars (pits)?
