DeLush Roundtable: Best Way to Tan at Home

With so many new choices on the market this year, what are your favorite self-tanning products? Do you like the new moisturizers with a little color for face and body or do you like the quick effects of the original self-tanning products? We want to know!

Jen's Favorites: For the best color, L'Oreal Sublime Glow moisturizer. But for a spontaneous trip to the beach, you can't beat Coppertone's quickness. Both are easy to apply (read: no exfoliating necessary) and give me color without streaks.

Melissa's Favorites: My favorite for ultimate ease and quick application is TanTowels. I've also had success with Clarins' Self-Tanning Milk, but I've very rarely used self-tanner for the last couple of years and use bronzers instead.

The Neutrogena Micro Mist spray is suprisingly easy to use and gives good coverage. I use that in between trips to the spray tan booth.

I will sometimes use the moisturizer + tan products for upkeep, but I'm just too impatient sometimes. The Coppertone one is pretty decent and not smelly.

Jergen's Natural Glow is my key to wearing skirts and shorts with aplomb. I'm a full-blooded Irishwoman, so traditional tanning is compltely out of the question. As a result, I've tried many sunless-tanning products. TanTowels are by far the best, but can get expensive, so I use Jergen's Natural Glow daily. I like that it's available in three formulae for different skins tones. I (obviously) use the one designed for fairer skin and never look streaky or orange.

Is the L'Oreal Sublime Glow similar to Jergens product? Is it better? I've been using the Jergens one, but I'm running low and thinking of switching.

I was all about the tanner-spiked lotions for a while, but I started craving the quicker results and bolder colour. I picked up L'Oreal Sublime Bronze as per Badger's recommendation, and yowza it's great. Best colour I've seen out of any self-tanning product. The smell is really not that bad, and I'm beach-ready after one use. I've got the tinted version, so you get a shimmery light bronze colour right away.

I can't find Sublime Glow in Canada yet, but I can't wait to try it out, since I like Sublime Bronze so much!

I'm looking forward to trying these. I've been using Jergens with okay results, but I'm ready to take the plunge and try a full-strength tanner;)

I'm really picky about how products smell and I'm contemplating between Jergens and L'Oreal. Which has the most tolerable smell?

I've been using the Jergen's Natural Glow since the beginning of spring. I have pretty fair skin that naturally tans well (that's the Scandinavian in me). I started with the Fair then moved to the Medium, which I like much better. I still find that I have to exfoliate and moisturize in certain areas or I get dark spots. Elbows are the worst for me. But the nice thing about Jergen's - if you make a mistake, it comes right off with a loofah! I'm going to a wedding next week and wearing a strapless dress and this stuff is going to save me from the dreaded farmer's tan! I may have to check out those Tan Towels though - can you get them in a store or only on QVC / Shopping Channels?
