Physician's Formula Powder Palette Multi-Colored Blush in Blushing Neutral
What They Say:
- A beautiful mosaic of complementary hues to contour and accentuate cheekbones with soft color and discreet shimmer.
- It’s the perfect combination of colors that blend together to naturally enhance your cheekbones.
- The finest Italian talc provides a silky-smooth application that blends easily without streaking or irritating sensitive skin.
Jamie’s Thoughts: As a redhead, my experiences with blush have not always been pleasant – or should I say, pleasant to look at. Some blushes don’t do enough, while others are more visible than stage makeup. I was very happy to test out and review this particular product, knowing that Physicians Formula has an excellent reputation for expertly constructing pre-blended palettes.
This blush is fantastic – it isn’t overloaded with shimmering agents, it isn’t heavy (meaning that it looks natural and doesn’t settle into my medium-sized pores), and one can easily get a more dramatic effect with multiple applications. It has a warm glow to it, but nothing sparkly or super shiny, making it appropriate for all ages and skintones. It does fade a bit on those colder, winter days when I’m repeatedly wearing and removing my big scarf – but overall, the staying power is above average. It’s a foolproof blush, folks.
I also wanted to mention the packaging, and its ingenious twist on a traditional compact. The brush fits inside a vented storage chamber at the very bottom, the underside of the actual compact is a mirror, and it all snaps together in a petite, purse-friendly pod. While the brush provided is no match for my big, girly blush brush, it does the job and you can’t beat the convenience of having it housed inside the compact. Perfect for traveling, or for keeping inside your desk at work – all in all, I highly recommend it.

PURPOSE® Dual Treatment Moisture Lotion with SPF 15
What They Say: "This water-based moisturizing formula filters both UVA and UVB rays and provides the SPF 15 protection recommended by dermatologists. It absorbs quickly and is a non-comedogenic product so it won't clog pores. Its light formula is ideal to use every day, even on sensitive skin."
Jen's Experience: For those of you with sensitive, dry skin looking for a nice moisturizer that isn't too heavy but doesn't leave your skin dry or irritated, this drugstore moisturizer may just be what you're looking for. I love the pump dispenser, which doles out the perfect amount for my face in a single pump. It absorbs into my face enough to moisturize and keep my make-up from sliding off, but retains just enough slip to make my foundation glide on. It is completely fragrance-free, too, which is a quality I like in my facial products. Overall, this is a big winner in my book and one of the best drugstore products I've tried in a long time.

Review: ChopSaver Lip Balm
What They Say: "ChopSaver: For Musicians With Lips!
Made of 100% natural ingredients, ChopSaver is a combination of shea butter, mango butter and other natural moisturizers. Its secret weapon is a mixture of herbs that promote healing and reduce swelling, chapping and soreness in a natural, gentle way. And the smell is clean yet not overpowering.
It's not just for musicians!
Why? Because it’s made of all-natural ingredients!
- It’s full of herbs that make your lips feel good!

- ChopSaver is the answer!
ChopSaver is also terrific for use under your eyes and on cracked fingertips and cuticles.
If musicians trust ChopSaver, shouldn’t you?
Find out what thousands of musicians around the world already know!"
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: I discovered this balm recently during a random search online for some new products to try, and as a former trumpet player for 13 years, I was intrigued. In high school and part of college, I had a Carmex pot everywhere I went. That was one thing that all of us knew could help soothe our worn out and DRIED OUT lips. But that stuff smells kind of nasty and medicinal. So as soon as I saw this I knew that I wanted to check it out for myself.
This balm is not glamourous. It isn't fancy. It's not packaged in a pretty, girly tube (though the design on the tube IS kind of fun). But here's the thing: IT WORKS. It's not too thick but is substantial enough to not disappear after 15 minutes, and it's not sticky or slick. On top of that, it's got a nice lime-like scent that is very uplifting.
As far as I'm concerned, I happened upon a good thing online that day. You really should give this a try - especially if you've had a hard time finding something soothing enough for your lips and are tired of the drugstore options, but don't want to spend a fortune on lip balm.
Retail Price: $14.85 for a three-pack - but you can also buy up to 8 dozen! (available at chopsaver.com)

Review: Bliss Triple Oxygen™ Instant Energizing Mask
What They Say: "A super-quick-fix for dull, tired, sallow, ‘I’m sick of my’ skin. Engineered to mimic the effects of our spa’s famous triple oxygen™ facial (but in seconds), this fabulous new complexion brightening formula uses every ‘tech’ in the book to work to furnish you with a fresher, younger-looking face.
- engineered as a stand-in for our spas' world-famous triple oxygen facial treatment
- releases oxygen molecules and detoxifiers
- a super quick fix for dull, tired, sallow skin
During our spas' most famous facial- the triple oxygen treatment- a skilled esthetician, having massaged, deep-cleaned and purified your pores, will hover gracefully over your head waving a thin plastic hose, directing pure pressurized oxygen through a customized blend of micro-molecular skin rehydrators, vitamins and antioxidants, all in a heroic effort to rapidly revitalize and reenergize your (choose one or more of the following):
- tired
- acne-riddled
- aging
- smoke-ridden
- 'all of the above' skin
Why?
Studies show that as we age, the natural oxygen levels circulating in our facial skin decline, and along with them, goes the energy needed to keep our cells functioning like the cells on a ‘fresh’ face. More oxygen (and vitamin C, and hydration) means more energy for all of the biochemical processes required by your body to keep your skin functioning like it’s ‘young’.
With?
The Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Mask is also formulated with:
a) FluidO2TM, a special ‘liquid ventilation’ system, to carry stable oxygen molecules and release them on your skin’s surface
b) Sodium PCA, a fantastic humectant molecule that keeps your skin hydrated without ever getting greasy
c) BV-OSC, the most multi-active powerful form of vitamin C available
Who?
1. Those who feel that the get up and go in their skin has got up and gone.
2. Anyone who is pushing thirty, or who just can’t pinpoint why they don’t look as lively in family photos these days.
3. Men who suffer from ingrown hairs or ‘beard bumps’
4. Acne sufferers, who should substitute a smattering of this for their everyday ‘cleanser’, to wage a continual mini war on the anaerobic bacteria that leads to the bumps, swollen follicles, and white blood cell build-up that causes breakouts.
How?
Instructions for use: Massage a generous layer of Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Mask onto damp skin. Wait five minutes, until a full froth forms, then rinse well and follow with toner and/or moisturizer. NOTE: Our Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Mask is formulated for fast (5 minutes) action and oxygen release, so there’s no need to leave it on longer. Use whenever your skin needs a boost, a maximum of 3x weekly."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: What an amazing (and fun-to-use) mask! When you apply the gel-like formula, it begins to foam almost immediately and you then begin to feel a very mild tingle (more like a tickle) as the oxygenating foam does its magic.
After rinsing it off, you will immediately notice that there is still a comfortable layer of moisture on your skin that doesn't go away after you pat your skin dry. This doesn't make my skin feel tight or itchy at ALL. Not only that, but I can see a distinct difference in my previously tired-looking skin each time I use it. Any redness or dullness seem alleviated, and my undereye circles appear diminished. Also, my skin feels and looks more smooth and awake.
One morning after I'd been sick during Christmas vacation and then passed it on to my husband, we both managed to sleep through our alarms (the three combined between us!) and both woke up abruptly (in a scene that looked like the one from Home Alone) literally one minute before I typically left my house for work. I threw on some clothes, brushed my hair, and quickly dotted on some concealer and mascara, saving the blush and lipstick for the car (I know - but I did it at the stoplight) and left the house three minutes later. My point is, somehow with that little time to do my typical getting-ready routine I must say I looked pretty okay that day. You would have never guessed how quickly I got ready. And I SWEAR that I only managed to look refreshed and radiant that day because the night before, I had used this mask for the very first time. Otherwise, I would typically see myself looking really blotchy and sallow after a morning like that!
If you have the means, give this mask a try. It is truly a miracle-worker in my book.

Review: EstheticPlus Deluxe Metal Eyelash Curler
What They Say: “Used for curling lashes. Extra pad.”
Toya’s Take: Um, okay. Yes, an eyelash curler is used for curling lashes. And it came with an extra pad, which I think is a good idea. I like this because it didn’t tug at the skin on my eyelids and it did its job in curling my lashes. My eyes instantly looked more open and awake. Good job!

Rusk Being Gutsy Volumizer
What They Say: "This versatile formula builds volume, thickens, tames frizziness, creates separation, and provides curl definition or smooths and control. The conditioners and moisturizers actually improve and correct dry or damaged areas."
Jen's Experience: My hairstylist recommended this product when I mentioned my ongoing quest for greater volume and control for my hair. I've been using Halo Bodifying Gel mixed with Aveda Pure Abundance Hair Powder with good results, but this product may just beat out that combination. It's very thick and creamy, like a winter body lotion, but it has some grit to it. A small amount applied to wet hair, it produces very similar results to the gel/powder combination that I've been using. What's different though is that my hair is really touchable after it's dry; with the other combo I had a little bit of grit left to it. What that also means is that my hair is a little shinier and a little healthier looking. For those of you with ultra-fine hair, this is definitely something to put in your arsenal.

Review: Biggs & Featherbelle Soap
What They Say: "Biggs & Featherbelle soaps are handmade with unique recipes to meet the needs of different skin types, using the properties of natural resources to heal and nourish. Every ingredient is purposeful and free from synthetic fragrances, dyes and additives."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: These not only come cleverly and cutely packaged, but the soap bars themselves are attractive with each formula featuring swirls, exfoliating bits, or other special additions along with lovely soap colors. There are several unique formulas and scents for different skin types and with different benefits. I tried the Chai Latte, which is a holiday version with a spicy, peppery fragrance and super soft suds.
Many Biggs & Featherbelle soaps are vegan and all are vegetarian.
Whether you want a unique hand soap for the bathroom or want to indulge in the special feeling of gentle, natural handmade bar soap in the bath or shower, this is a line you might want to check out.

Review: Sevi Cosmetics Java Bean Lip Balm
What They Say: "Craving coffee? Try one of our freshly brewed vegan lip balm handmade in small batches and with protective ingredients and certified organic coffee beans!
A must have for all coffee lovers!"
Jen's Experience: I hate the thought of getting addicted to balms, and I tend to avoid them unless I absolutely have to use them. But when the weather turned colder these past couple of weeks, I just had to use something, and I was really glad I had this on hand. I received this lip balm as a full-sized sample with some Sevi products I ordered as Christmas presents, and I really couldn't be happier with it. It really works to soften up my lips and prevent the flaking that occurs, but I don't have to carry it around and constantly re-apply. I put it on in the morning and occasionally at night, and my lips are back to normal (which is always a bit dry to me, but a little I can handle). It also works well as a first layer when I'm wearing a lipstick so that it goes on more evenly. I am not a huge fan of coffee flavors in general, but if you're a coffee fan you may very well love the taste as well. Even for non-coffee lovers, you'll find the taste is tolerable I think when you see the wonders it does for your lips.

Review: Paula Dorf Transformer
What They Say: "This magic solution instantly turns eye shadow into liquid liner. Just place a few drops into eye shadow lid, dab brush into liquid, glide along outer edge of shadow, and then apply to eyelid."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: I was hoping to try this ever since Carmindy told us that she swears by this stuff to make shadow liner stay put. It's really simple to use; just follow the directions to put a couple of drops in your shadow container lid, dip your liner brush in the liquid and swipe the brush along the edge of the shadow (you don't want to get it on the rest of the shadow that you use typically for your lids). It really does create a nice, smooth liner that may not be waterproof but is definitely smudgeproof enough to last most of the day without budging or disappearing. This is a handy way to give you more liner choices and experiment with some of your favorite shadow colors.

Review: Bag Lunch Lip Balms
What They Say: "All our lip balms contain only the finest ingredients to moisturize and protect your puckers:
Sweet Almond Oil is used to soften and soothe the lips. Beeswax is used as a natural waterproofing barrier between your lips and harsh elements. It also locks moisture in, keeping your lips soft and supple. Shea Butter is another natural moisturizer. It is derived from the vegetable fat of the karite tree. Vitamin E is a natural preservative. It is commonly used in lip balms to keep them their freshest. Flavors and colors are added to make our balms distinctively Bag Lunch. These butter, velvet-smooth balms go on clear. Pucker up..."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: These are unique, fun and comforting balms with an awful lot of great flavors to choose from. I think they flavors are actually better described as SCENTS, because while each and every one smells sinfully good, they don't necessarily have strong TASTE. There is a hint of flavor, but for me the main sensation is in the (OH SO YUMMY) scent. But this is good, because it satisfies cravings without making me lick my lips into chapped misery! (Some of the choices include Strawberry Milkshake, Chilled Margarita, Pancakes and Syrup, French Vanilla Latte, Red Lollipop, and many more.) I do love these, for their ingeniously spot-on smells/flavors and their incredible long-lasting softness and comfort - they really do last among the longest of any balms I've tried. This is definitely a fun line of balms - try them out!
Another plus: They don't test on animals, and neither do any of their suppliers! Also, they support the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals with their special "Angell" Food Cake lip balm.

Holiday Gift Guide Review: LUSH Holiday Selection
Christmas Party Bath Bomb
"Christmas Party is good for before, after (or even during) a party. It's got lime and sweet orange to perk you up a bit and soothing cognac essential oil to keep yopu feeling mellow. This year it's orange and fizzy again, a bit like Buck's Fizz."
Jen's Experience: Of all the LUSH Christmas products, I think this one might be my favorite in terms of fragrance. It's got a very orange-y aroma, almost like mixing up a batch of Tang in your bathtub, with a very similar color. Points off, though, for the messiness factor. The confetti inside mostly will disappear down the drain, but I've found it in my bath mat and sheets for weeks after I used it. ($5.55)
Christingly Bubble Bar
"Soften your bath water and lounge in a lake of brilliant pink bath water, topped with spearmint scented bubbles. It's really relaxing and refreshingly tingly all at the same time. Don't be surprised by the surprise inside."
Jen's Experience: I'm not much of a spearmint fan, so I wasn't so excited initially about the scent of this bubble bar, but I was incredibly impressed when I saw the sheer quantity of bubbles generated by it. I am quite sure you could easily cut this one in half and enjoy it twice as much. The pink color was also very fun, and even the scent was pleasant when I was soaking in that many bubbles. ($5.95)
Green Wing Bath Bomb
"Our brand new Green Wing is infused with Avobath's revitalising essential oils to bring you back to life on mornings when you'd really rather have an extra couple of hours in bed. 'Ave a bath with the refreshing green angel, flown in specially with lemongrass and bergamot, and by the time she's dissolved, you'll already be feeling better."
Jen's Experience: I am a big fan on lemongrass and bergamot in fragrances, and the scent of this bath bom definitely did not disappoint. The fragrance is perhaps one of the stronger ones, but since it wasn't overly perfume-y, I definitely didn't mind a bit. It left both my bathroom and me smelling great for hours. This is one of my top picks from the holiday collection. ($4.95)
Puddy Holly Bath Bomb
"Looks like pudding. Smells like pudding. Fizzes like a spicy bath ballistic. The ballistic formerly known as Lush Pud makes a welcome return for everyone who has come to rely on its soothing rose and benzoin essential oils to make them feel like rejoining the human race after staying out too late. It's our longest serving yuletide special. Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without it."
Jen's Experience: This is one of the cutest bath bombs I saw in the holiday collection, and the ball itself smells GREAT. However, I was a little disappointed once it was dissolved in my tub. The scent was much less potent than the others (and since it was so wonderful outside of the tub, I had such high hopes) and it didn't have any real extra moisturizing benefits to make up for it. It's not bad at all, but it definitely wasn't the best of the ones I tried.
If you're looking for a great gift for the bath lover, you might want to consider getting one or more of these items as stocking stuffers or even a gift set. Visit LUSH.com for more details on their holiday products.

Holiday Gift Guide Review: Elemis Radiant Skin Normal to Dry Gift Set
- Contents:
- Rehydrating Ginseng Toner (400ml)
- Rehydrating RosePetal Cleanser (400ml)
- Pro-Collagen Marine Cream (15ml)
- Exotic Cream Moisturising Mask (15ml)
- Papaya Enzyme Peel (15ml)
Elemis Rosepetal Cleanser
"Elemis Rose Petal Cleanser replenishes moisture, removes the day’s impurities and adds life to your complexion."
For those of you who are a fan of Mario Badescu's Make-Up Remover Cleanser, this is another product you may want to try. This cleanser does a great job of cleaning my face each night, but the creamy texture leaves my skin so hydrated, I could probably skip my regular moisturizer every now and then. The delicate rose fragrance makes this cleanser even more pleasant to use. ($33.00)
Elemis Rehydrating Ginseng Toner
"Extracts of tonifying Korean Ginseng, Quillaja Wood and Sweet Betty Flower revitalise and nourish the skin, whilst thoroughly removing any last traces of cleanser. Perfect for re-hydrating dry and mature skin."
I always like to use a toner to remove the last traces of make-up I may have missed as well as any remaining cleanser. What I really like about this toner is that it, like the cleanser, leaves my skin feeling very hydrated. It doesn't strip my skin and it doesn't even sting. It's hard to be able to say for sure, but I've also noticed that the brighteners and serum that I have in my skincare routine seem to absorb better when I use this toner, giving extra benefit to my skin. Even if you're not interested in trying the whole gift set, this is one product that I would recommend purchasing for yourself! ($33.00)
Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream
"The ultimate Elemis anti-ageing skincare treatment cream, Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream is Clinically proven to reduce the depth of wrinkles by 19% and increase hydration and moisture levels by 10%."
They're making some pretty big claims there, and I can't completely substantiate them, but I will say that my skin has been remarkably good about retaining moisture since I've added this product to my nighttime routine. Like most moisturizers in the $100+ price range, you only need a little for a very noticable effect. ($124.00)
Elemis Exotic Cream Moisturizing Mask
"This light creamy mask contains a dynamic blend of Mimosa, amino-acid rich Honey, immune-boosting Sea Rocket, Orange and Bergamot. These work together to leave skin super-moisturised and enriched. For optimum penetration of its active ingredients, the mask may be left on overnight."
I haven't yet tried this mask on overnight, but when I wore it in an extended bubble bath, I have to say that I was very pleased by how much it hydrated my skin. The effect was present long after I had rinsed off the mask. Of all the products, I was least pleased with the scent of this one, but overall, a worthwhile product, especially for those who suffer from dry skin in the winter months. ($73.00)
Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel
"Natural fruit enzymes of exfoliating Papaya and calming Pineapple, smooth and clarify the complexion. This rinse-off exfoliating cream contains nourishing Milk Protein, Anti-Oxidant rich Vitamin E and marine algae to moisturise, repair and protect skin. Perfect for complexions which are sensitive or mature."
This is my absolute favorite product in the set, less because of the way it works than because of the absolutely delicious smell. I am in absolute heaven when I'm wearing this peel! I am not sure that it did a lot to hydrate my face, but I will say that it did leave my skin looking more radiant, which was the whole goal of this gift set. For the fragrance alone, a tube of this fantastic peel would make an excellent gift. ($42.00)
Jen's Overall Experience: This skin care set from Elemis would make a wonderful gift for anyone in your life who has dry or mature skin. While the bottles themselves don't look all that impressive, the products inside are some of the best skin care products I've ever used.

Review: BECCA Stick Foundation
What They Say:
"* BECCA Stick Foundation has a soft creamy texture which provides a totally controllable level of coverage. Its non-powdery formulation is suitable for most skin types (including ultra-sensative) and provides sheer to medium natural looking cover, lightly evening skin tone and giving the illusion of perfect skin.
* All 27 colours have a high SPF 30+ to protect against over 90% of UVA and UVB rays. Anti-oxidant vitamins A, D and E help to increase collagen renewal and the skins’ water holding capacity, making this a genuine anti-aging foundation.
* Apply strokes directly to the skin (or use a foundation brush for a sheerer application) then spread and blend into the skin with fingertips. BECCA Stick Foundation can be used all over the face (including the under-eye area) or only where is needed and is best used over BECCA Primers, Tinted Glow Enhancer or Luminous Skin Colour for added coverage.
* For a touch proof, budge proof, long lasting finish, always set with BECCA Fine Loose Finishing Powder."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: It's pretty rare that all I need to say about a foundation is "Well actually, it pretty much does exactly what it says!"...but I think this is going to be one of those times I can actually say that.
I tend to be wary of stick foundations, because the ones I've used in the past have often produced uneven, greasy, or otherwise very unnatural-looking finishes. I am very glad to say that this did not produce excess oil on my often shiny t-zone (I didn't have to blot any more than the couple of times I sometimes have to do during the day), maintained its freshness all day and looked incredibly natural (before I read the description above I thought to myself that it was a great sheer-to-medium coverage formula). It's buildable, blendable, and comes in MANY shades. I'm telling you, if you can't find a shade that looked great on you among the 27 options, I would be amazed. The one I tried? Caramel (a Medium Yellow-based shade).

Review: NEW! Carol's Daughter The Original Mango Body Butter
What They Say: "Originally created over 12 years ago, this is one of the first Body Butters made in the Carol's Daughter kitchen by founder, Lisa Price. A creamy mix of cocoa butter, shea butter and natural oils, blended to a smooth texture that is easily absorbed into the skin. This buttery treat, leaves skin super smooth and velvety. The fragrance is just how you remembered it: mango, vanilla and essential oil of patchouli for a soft sexy scent."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: I knew that Toya had reviewed some of Carol's Daughter body butters in the past, and was excited to give this re-issued original formula a try. And let me say, I was NOT DISAPPOINTED.
The scent? Only slightly intense in the container, but on your skin it's very luscious. The texture is thick but spreadable and smooth. This is serious hydration for your skin, and lasts a very long time.
User Tip: Apply this in the evening or at bedtime, as it can take a little while to completely soak into your skin (make sure to rub it in really well). If you do it at night, your skin will feel absolutely amazing in the morning. This has also worked WONDERS on my dry cuticles (I rub on a tiny amount on a few times throughout the day), and this would also make a wonderful overnight foot moisturizer - just apply, put on cotton socks, and go to bed!

Review: Sevi Mineral Powder Foundation
What They Say: "Safe and healthy loose mineral foundations made with pure pigments -- free from artificial fragrances or essential oils, bismuth oxychloride, animal by products (carmine), talc, preservatives such as parabens and FD&C dyes.
16 unique shades, mostly yellow based, without excess shimmer and glow -- our foundation is buildable yet does not require the use of a finishing powder to complete the look. We have many shades that cater to women of color and will be adding a few more..."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: Since I've begun using this mineral foundation I've been hooked. This is a TRULY non-irritating and non-orangey mineral powder formula. The fact that many of the Sevi shades are slightly yellow-based works to my benefit. The shade I have is actually 715, described as a light neutral olive. It blends perfectly and invisibly into my skin and helps to camouflage darkness under the eyes.
I love the perfect soft-focus look and the fact that there is no glitter or sheen. My skin looks healthy and stays fresh for pretty much the entire day. I don't looked cakey or powdery. My hair stylist even asked me last week what kind of foundation I was wearing as she was washing my hair under the bright salon lights! She said she absolutely loved how CLEAN and natural the finish was.
I also use their angled brush instead of the foundation brush to apply the foundation, but no matter which you use, each brush is incredibly soft, gentle, and provides a smooth even application (AND they are made of synthetic Taklon and thus are animal hair-free).
Retail Price: $25.00 (at sevicosmetics.com - you can also get shade samples for $2.50 each OR $35.00 for one of every shade!)

What They Say: "Lips glisten and gleam in the soft shades of the season.
Limited-edition palette includes four shining lip glosses in tones that are easy to wear. For an elegant, just-so glow.
From the Holiday Spirit collection--the look of the season."
Jen's Experience: This is the first product that I'll be reviewing as part of the Estee Lauder Holiday Spirit Collection, and it's one of my favorite Estee Lauder products not just in this collection, but in their entire line. The glosses, which on first contact may seem a little gooey, apply easily using the included lip brush to gorgeous sheer tints in warm colors that look great even with my blue undertones. The more gold tints can be used for a neutral shade with gold smoky eyes for the popular metallic looks of the season, while the redder shades look great with plums and other fall colors. The texture is similar in thickness to other Estee Lauder lip glosses I've tried in their tube formulas, thicker than some glosses on the market, but not sticky at all. The color lasts for about 2 hours as long as I don't eat or drink anything.
This palette is absolutely a staple for all my holiday ensembles (and for work), but it would make an excellent gift this holiday season as well.

Review: Biolage Hydra-Seal Leave-in Créme
What They Say:
"• Luxurious styling creme that instantly moisturizes and seals split ends
• Softens, adds shine and controls frizz
• Shaping Polymers make dry hair easy to style
• Provides heat protection while styling
• Soft-to-medium hold"
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: I have a new secret hair weapon. This is one of those products that I'm going to tell all of my friends about. The light formula doesn't weigh my hair down (at ALL), leaves my hair super-soft, and adds shine. My hair has a tendency to feel really coarse on the ends and frizz out, especially when I have multiple lenghts cut into it (as I do now). This smoothes my ends down and softens them better than anything I've tried.
User Tip: Apply this before blow-drying, making sure to distribute evenly with a comb.

Review: Aveeno Stress Relief Body Wash
What They Say: "This soothing body wash helps to calm and relax you in the shower while cleansing and moisturizing, so your skin feels soft and smooth all day long. This unique formula combines natural colloidal oatmeal — long known for its skin-soothing benefits — with lavender and essential chamomile and ylang-ylang oils, which are known for their calming benefits. The creamy body wash gently lathers to cleanse, hydrate and soothe dry skin, leaving skin softer and smoother all day long. And, it's even gentle enough for sensitive skin.
Additional Product Benefits Include: lightly fragranced, soap free, dye free."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: This is, simply put, a fabulous body wash. Add in the bonus of the low price and availability, and you really can't go wrong. The formula suds up incredibly soft, smells SO nice (not a "perfumey" lavender scent, but instead very subtle and soothing) and leaves skin softly conditioned.

Guest Review: DuWop Shadow Lift
What They Say: "With revolutionary anti-aging and skin perfecting ingredients, gorgeous pigment, and fine shimmer, Shadowlift helps firm the eyelid and provides a creamy, shimmery, finish with beautiful color."
Jeannette's Experience: I've never used another anti-aging eyeshadow, so this was something I was anxious to try. Duwop's Shadow Lift eyeshadow claims to help firm the eyelid and provide a creamy, shimmery finish, using the cutting edge anti-aging ingredients with the finest moisturizers and shimmery pigment. Their formula includes anti-oxidants, including vitamins E and C, anti-inflammatory ingredients, and skin tightening ingredients such as marine collagen which boost collagen production and firm the skin to provide instant tightening.
I am in my early 50's and have been using an eye primer that tightens and firms the eyelid so I was ready to try this without my primer to see what it would do. It comes in 4 basics shades and I tried a shimmery gray called "Sun Tide".
Just one small pump of this liquid shadow does it. After applying to lid and crease I was a little concerned because the color was so intense. I like using softer shades now that I'm older. After a few minutes the color toned down to a soft shimmer. So loved that, and not to much shimmer either!! My eyelids are always hot in the morning and puffy. Upon application there was a slight cooling for me. That is not one of the things they say it does, but I noticed that. I also noticed about 10 minutes later that the swelling on my eyelids diminished. It worked as well as my eye primer but with the convenience of one step with color.
The color stayed soft and lasted all day for me. With all the good ingredients plus moisturizing, there has to be long term benefits. It is hard to find something that you can put on your eyelid that is also anti-aging that also works as an eyeshadow! Eye make-up that is anti-aging too? I think women who are looking to fight the signs of aging will be pleased with this product!

Review: NatPure Soy Doctor Retexturizing Soy Polisher
What They Say: “Excess, dead cells build up, causing skin to look less radiant at any age. Complexions can look dull when the light reflecting quality that smooth skin has is diminished by cell layers waiting to be sloughed off. While exfoliation can give skin a boost in several ways, it is super efficient at eliminating dead-cell build up, excess sebum and debris. Regular, but not overly aggressive, exfoliating can uncover a smoother, more radiant complexion. It can also help your other treatment products to penetrate faster and do their job better.
Superb and exclusive facial exfoliating formula containing micro-fine polyethylene particles., which penetrates below the surface by removing cellular debris that clogs pores and leads to breakouts and scarring. Features congestion fighting alpha and beta hydroxy acids complex and patented Soy Doctor Natural Blend.
Recommended for normal, combination and oily skin, NatPure Retexturizing Soy Polisher leaves complexions smooth, soft and polished to perfection.”
Alissa’s Opinion: I love exfoliation. I use a scrub on some part of my body every single day, so I’ve used quite a few on the market. This cleanser is the best I’ve tried for the face. It contains no fragrances or dyes, so the luxurious feeling comes solely from the texture. The beads are extremely fine, so there is none of the scratchiness that some exfoliating cleansers tend to have. After using this scrub every 3 days for a couple of weeks, I noticed that my skin was clearer and softer than usual. This is one bottle I will definitely keep in my shower.

Review: Paula Dorf New York Eye Kit
What They Say: "This shimmering eye palette creates a soft sultry eye that is perfect for all seasons. This kit contains a white with gold flecks highlighter; peach-pink, bronze, and gold green shadow as beautiful accents, lid, or contour colors and finish by lining with a stunning deep aubergine."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: With a quartet of shades that are not only wearable for everyday but also lovely together, this eye palette got my attention right away. The colors are not too dramatic for daytime (in fact, the lighter colors combined can create a subtle gold and pink-hued neutral effect) and can be intensified if desired with the darker shades.
These shadows create a lovely sheen and look just as great at the end of the day as they did when I put them on. I love the applicator enclosed, especially that it has a tiny end for applying the darker shade as liner (I played around with using the gold-green shade as a liner also). You can use the shades in multiple combinations depending on occasion and your mood. All in all, a very usable and high-quality set of shadows.

Review: Urban Decay Eyeshadow Ammo Palette
What They Say: “Covered in touchable, matte black paper, the compact features a mesmerizing assortment of UD elements - animals, hearts, skulls, and flourishes - gently wafting from a pistol in overlapping textures of violet metallic foil and rich velvety flocking. Upon opening the kit, you're met with endless eye options: 10 best-selling shadows are arranged as five sets of coordinating duos, running the gamut from subtle to sexy. The slim case is complete with a perfectly sized mirror, applicators, and a magnetic closure, so it's sure to stay closed in your handbag.”
Alissa’s Opinion: This is absolutely the best designed palette I have ever owned. The velvety designs, the sleek purple and black case, the magnetic closure and the huge mirror are enough for me to love even without the gorgeous shadows!
The colors that are included in this kit are all perfect for evening looks, but a few of them are nice everyday shadows as well. Sin (light shimmering champagne) is a great base color that works with all the other shades. There is also a highlighting shade, Polyester Bride, and a sparkly black, Oil Slick, that works well as a dramatic liner. All the other colors coordinate with each other for a great smoky eye look. Some of them have a lot of glitter that gets all over the place if you aren’t careful (and maybe even if you are), but it’s so worth it. Basically, if you only plan on buying one product to update your winter look, this one has everything you need and is beautiful to boot!

Review: Aveeno Essential Moisture Lip Conditioner with SPF 15
What They Say: "This unique lip treatment provides essential long-lasting moisturization to help condition and protect dry, chapped lips. With an exclusive combination of natural oatmeal and natural skin conditioners, including jojoba oil and shea butter, it restores moisture and locks it in long after applying. It contains UVA/UVB sunscreens to protect lips from the sun and is good for daily use."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: What can I say? It's getting colder and my lips are telling me they want to hibernate in lots of lip balms, so I keep finding myself pulled toward them. Some are better than others, some are mostly cute packaging with little benefit. This is fortunately one of the former of the two. This is not a fun, tasty treat for lips (which they say actually causes you to lick your lips more anyway, creating more chapping), but instead is a super-comforting, soft and long-lasting source of lip relief. This is a frontrunner in my balm rotation - it feels amazing and keeps lips moisturized for a really long time. Stock up for winter!

Fall Product Reviews: DuWop BronzeRush and Rose Eyes Palette
What They Say(about BronzeRush) "Bronzerush is a palette that has everything you need to add color and life to your complexion. The gorgeous gold metallic kit includes a velvety smooth powder bronzer with a gel-based translucent blush, for a pop of fresh cheek color. Bronzerush gives you a warm healthy glowing tan, flushed rosy cheeks, and an all-over sun-kissed radiance that cannot be achieved by the average bronzer." (about the Rose Eyes Palette) "You can create a new look for every mood, season, or time of day with this gorgeous rose-themed palette. Set includes a true rose base shade, soft pink shimmer, soft rosy bronze, peachy-gold shimmer, and a deep plum-brown cream liner, plus a double-ended flat liner/eye blender brush."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow:(about BronzeRush) The sight of this palette, upon opening, kind of made me nervous. To me, it looked pretty bold. But on I soldiered, and put the stuff on anyway. The bronzer portion is actually less alarming than I imagined. It appears more orange-y in the compact than it comes off on my skin, but it is rather sparkly and maybe just tawny enough that I'd prefer it for spring or summer, but you may like it just fine, especially for those nights out. The little pot of creme blush to add on top for a bit of a rosy hue is NOT super-bright on your skin. It's actually quite sheer, and I thought rather pretty. If you've got slightly oily skin as I tend to get by around 5 o'clock in the evening if I don't powder or blot, this may not stay on as well as you'd like and you probably would prefer a powder blush for more wearability. Otherwise it's these two are a really nice combo.
(about the Rose Eyes Palette) This I absolutely LOVE. The colors are so perfectly matched for highlighting and deepening of the base color, and the generously-mirrored case is slim and compact. I think these colors would be flattering on practically anyone, whatever your skin tone or hair/eye coloring. The shadows are silky and really do wear fabulously - I didn't notice any creasing during the day. I was a little concerned about the cream liner, because it is such a soft formula. While I did smudge it myself a tiny bit when I applied it for a soft-focus look, the lines absolutely stayed put (surprisingly well) for HOURS. (Click the pic to the right to enlarge.)

Fall Product Review: Tarte fRxtion Sugar Exfoliator and Lip Balm Duo
What They Say: "Whatever your oral affliction
(be it chapped lips or sugar addiction)
Tarte has got the Rx for your blues
And it's garnering all rave reviews
Sugar grains scrub your pout smooth
While Vitamin E balm helps soothe
Believe it or not, it's non-fiction
Cause it's not only fact...it's FRxtion
Directions:
Use sugar exfoliator side on dry flaky, chapped lips to smooth out and follow with the vitamin e enhanced balm side to soothe lips."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: Okay, first of all - I don't think you can fully appreciate the fun of the popup mirror built in to this case unless you get to use it in person. Obviously, this would be a godsend for all actual lipstick cases, but I digress.
The sugar side is actually sweet, isn't TOO rough for lips, and still gets the job done. The balm side is very smooth and conditioning, with lasting moisturizing effects for several hours. Another plus is the fact that so far the stick has proven pretty sturdy, which is important considering the fact that you'll be applying more pressure than with other lips balms because you're trying to exfoliate.
Even though this may not be my everyday balm, when I notice that my lips are dry and rough, this will definitely be within hand's reach.

Fall Product Review: Tarte “Some Like It Hot” Mini-Gloss Set
What They Say: "Sizzling speakeasies with zip…red-hot risque, razzle-dazzle costumes…blazing jazz numbers sultry enough to work you into a fiery fever…Ah, the good ol’ days (well, what we think of, anyway)
Ever feel like you were born a few decades too late? Not to fret: this is just the set for all you girls who are more spice than sugar. Your inner sex kitten will purrr with these 10 cinnamon-flavored, moisture-rich shades of playful pinks & sheer flirty neutrals. The cayenne pep will leave you wanting more….and we deliver. Interchangeable connector pieces let you mix and match glosses for endless zesty combinations—leaving you too hot for words."
Jamie’s Thoughts: I love this set of adorable teeny glosses for fall. The packaging is super cute – but the real genius is in the details. The 10 small vials of gloss have caps, each of which lock into a connector piece. Each connector piece holds 2 mini vials (great for the indecisive), and when you’re using only 1, the other one makes a perfectly sized wand! Also, the applicator tip is sponge-based, not a brush, making application clean and neat. BRILLIANT!
The consistency of the glosses is somewhere between standard Vaseline and MAC’s infamous Lipglass. My love affair with Lipglass makes me the perfect candidate for this glossy hybrid product. It’s not overly tacky, yet has suprising staying power. (Full disclosure: I found it somewhat difficult to get it off. I’m a lip licker, so this is an asset in my opinion.) Also, the cinnamon scent is present, but not overwhelming.
Colors to Try:
Zesty – the perfect pink, especially for a redhead.
Zip – has a golden sheen, would be fantastic over red lipstick
Spicy – my personal favorite, great for all skin tones
Only 1 color seemed out of touch with the aesthetic of the rest – Fever. It was almost neon in tone – like radioactive Pepto Bismol. I can’t see it looking good on anyone, but go out and buy the set. Maybe you’ll prove me wrong!

Fall Product Review: Tom Ford Amber Nude II Collection Bronzer and Brush at Estée Lauder
What They Say: (about The Bronzer) "Now, your skin and your senses are under the influence of Tom Ford. The message is nude. A makeup collection that reflects Tom Ford's provocative philosophy. Real gold in the makeup gives it a gilded, glamorous edge. Tom Ford on the collection: 'This collection is very much my philosophy of beauty. I've concentrated only on nude shades for the lips and nails. This is what I always really like...a neutral mouth, beautiful skin and a dramatic, strong eye. One look that works for many skintones.'" (about The Brush) *We don't have an official description at press time.
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: From the excitedly-anticipated Amber Nude II collection, this bronzer is more Fall-appropriate than the Azurée bronzer from this summer. This one is more tan and less tawny, and fairly subtle. The color doesn't turn orange at all as the day wears on and it stays put. Also, the compact is very generously-sized - about 50% wider in diameter than normal compacts.
The brush is incredibly soft and easy-to-handle. It helps to apply the bronzer evenly in just a few swipes. It's gentle on your face and just using it adds some glamour to the process of getting ready.

Fall Product Review: Estee Lauder Pure Color Nail Lacquer in Platinum Twighlight
What They Say: "A luxurious new brilliance at your fingertips.
Rich, glossy, quick-drying and long-wearing. Truly intense color is so shiny it looks wet--but don't be fooled.
Resists chipping, even in water. Won't fade, dull or streak, even in strong sunlight.
Specially designed brush shape makes application incredibly easy. Just three strokes of color--middle, left and right--and you're done.
Even the bottle is striking."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: Looking for a polish that will get you on board with the Metallics Trend this season without being too "modern" or "obvious"? This is the shade AND the product for you. This light purple-silver frosty metallic is subtle enough to be classic-looking as well as up-to-the-minute.
The brush is, as they say, a fabulous tool for applying even color in just a few swipes. This is also substantial enough to use only one coat and still have good coverage. Because of the bit of frost in this particular shade, it's not glossy-slick in finish, but it does have a nice shine. If you add a glossy topcoat, you can add more of a smooth finish.
This does indeed dry fairly quickly and lasts at least several days with no chipping. I've found a new favorite!

Fall Product Review: Pieces from the glōminerals Fall Makeup Lineup
What They Say: glōGloss: "Get the "Star Treatment" with incredible shine that feels fabulous. glōGloss melts onto your lips for a perfect, smooth finish. New for fall: lilac luster and star struck."
glōShimmer brick: "Be an instant sensation with our NEW glōShimmer brick in gleam. Four beautiful colors that you can swirl together for a captivating glō or use individually to illuminate that shining star in you."
glōPrecision eye pencil: "Achieve the fame you deserve with glōPrecision eye pencils in deep olive and plum. Dreamy, daring, legendary."
glōEye Shadow: "For that special effect, create your own color intensity from sheer to deep to totally dramatic! New for fall: berry, eggplant, and fern."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: This was my first experience with the glōminerals product line. I was overall very pleasantly surprised.
First of all, the gloss (shown in lilac), has a slight vanilla scent and is incredibly soft and moisturizing. I like its weight, and it lasts pretty well. The gloss also has a very slight opalescent sheen that makes lips look a little more voluptuous, too (I'm not going to say I didn't like that).
The new glō Shimmer Brick is a (very generous-sized) quad of completely wearable soft-shimmer shades. (the picture does NOT do the colors justice, TRUST ME). Each one could easily be used on cheeks or lids as color or subtle highlighter. They also layer very beautifully together and are incredibly soft in texture. This was perhaps my favorite part of their Fall lineup.
Next are the eye shadow (in fern) and eye pencil (in olive). The shadow builds really easily just as they say, because of its very fine consistency. This shade also has just enough very fine flecks of gold to make it even prettier. The only thing that wasn't perfect about it was that it did crease a little bit after several hours. The eye pencil goes on smoothly and has a handy sponge tip on the other end if you'd like to smudge it a bit to create a more smoky look. The pencil could have lasted a little bit longer without wearing off, but it held up fairly well for one not billed as "longwear".
Retail Prices:
glō Gloss $15.00
glō Shimmer Brick $30.00
glō Eye shadow $17.00
glō Eye pencil $15.00

Review: Back to Basics Curl Refreshing Shampoo & Conditioner and Curl Activating Gel
What They Say: (about the Curl Refreshing Shampoo & Conditioner) Senses are indulged as hair is treated to a beneficial blend proven to activate and define curl. Gentle cleansers and detangling conditioners in these moisturizing, anti-frizz formulas keep curls smooth and separated, soft and shiny.
(about the Curl Activating Gel) Formulated with a natural blend proven to activate, define and separate curls. Moisturizing, anti-frizz formula keeps curl smooth and shiny throughout the day.
Jamie’s Review: Hello, my name is Jamie, and I have high maintenance hair.
(in chorus) Hello, Jamie.
Despite several very solid DeLush reviews on the Back to Basics line of products, I was skeptical about this one. I second guess any product that claims to have any control whatsoever over my naturally curly hair. Do these so-called “curly hair only” products actually do what they say they will?
Well, yes. And no.
The shampoo is predictable, nothing special happening there. It rinsed out quickly and completely, which I always appreciate. The conditioner, on the other hand, is phenomenal. It was very creamy upon application and especially rinsing – it had an instant softening effect on my hair. When I stepped out of the shower, I was able to run my fingers through my hair without physical pain. Usually, I need 4-5 spritzes of detangler before that can occur. Hallelujah! Graham Webb, I love you, wherever you are. After a quick brush, it was onto the gel. It went on very goopy but distributed nicely in the end. The “golden rule of hair gel” definitely applies here – the more gel you use, the crunchier your hair will be. It also did not control the strange, frizzy waves I have on the back of my head at all.
A note on the scent: Holy jasmine, Batman! I found the scent (a very thick, heady floral mix) completely overwhelming, and not necessarily in a good way. If you’re like me and prefer a lighter, fresh, citrus scent, do not purchase this product. The scent lasts all day and well into the evening, which is fantastic, if you like the way it smells.
Overall results of the “curl refresher” suite of products? Average at best, save the conditioner. If they made the conditioner in citrus, I would use it everyday!
Retail Prices: (the shampoo & conditioner) $9.95 - 31.95 each in a range of three sizes (the gel) $9.95 (available at salons and select distributors - find a location near you here)

Fall Product Review: Sue Devitt Silky Eye Shadows (in Three New Shades)
What They Say: "A comprehensive selection of fashion's most sought after colors. Silky Eye Shadow shades interact with each other harmoniously to intensify, highlight, and contour the eye area offering a crease-resistant, long-lasting application that holds to professional standards. Available in silky or matte textures."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: Well, this one isn't going to take very long. This is one of the best shadows I've ever used. To put it simply, they go on super-smooth, have a beautiful hint of sheen, and stay on true for HOURS. (It even lasted once through a workout and shower with no creasing!) At the end of a day there is very small bit of creasing, but I am completely impressed by the wearability overall. And these new shades are really gorgeous for not only Fall but throughout the year.

Fall Product Review: Sue Devitt Balanced Sheer Lipstick
What They Say: "Choose from an array of lipsticks that are rich with luxurious pay-off. The Balanced Sheer formulation contains moisturizing lip nutrients that soften and keep lips hydrated and healthy."
Jen's Experience: This is the first Sue Devitt product that I've tried, and I am really impressed! The lipstick has a great feel to it. Although the texture is somewhat thin (thus the sheer, I suppose), it makes my lips feel really moisturized, not smothered. The lipstick is fairly long-lasting, and only requires reapplication after eating or drinking.
Northern Lights
The color I tried is Northern Lights, which doesn't appear to be listed on their website or any other retailers as yet. This particular color is a soft pink with a little but of sparkle. It looks great with a little bit of Nars Orgasm blush and some gray eyeliner, making for a nice casual look. The color may not obviously fit into this season's trends, but if you're fair like me, this would be an excellent basic color for your cosmetic wardrobe.

Fall Product Review: DuWop Venom Gloss in Desperate Housewives-Inspired Shade, Wisteria

What They Say: "Vibrant color is spiked with a wicked tingle and a delicious shine. Each of these lip plumping glosses are enriched with a secret blend of essential oils that leave lips soft, full, and extremely kissable."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow:
If you've ever tried DuWop's Lip Venom products, you know all about the tingle! (Some people are addicted to it.) There's a cinnamon-laced tingle that I actually thought wasn't going to kick in when I first put this gloss on. But...oh wait...there it was. While this is a much less dramatic option than a lot of the lip-plumping products out there (you may like that), it still does make your lips look a little more plush and full. The tingle lasts about 20 minutes or so, slowly dissipating. But it's never so powerful that I find it uncomfortable or distracting as with some other products. The gloss itself stays on fairly well for a few hours and has a really pretty shine. It's not very sticky and is moisturizing. I would call the color (at least in this case) very sheer, and it is unflavored. In regard to this new shade specifically, I'm definitely digging this sexy gold-flecked Housewives-inspired pink.

Fall Product Review: Tarte Yellow Mellow

What They Say: "We call it yellow mellow…
…’cause this cool lemon-colored powder/cream duo helps to calm down angry red skin tones. Yellow Mellow is chock-full of ingredients that keep redness at bay:
- aloe vera & chamomile ease inflammation
- soybean oil reduces skin discolorations, including sun spots, age spots and redness
- vitamin E helps skin retain moisture and is one of the most effective antioxidants to prevent premature signs of aging
- Green tea extract has been shown to improve rosacea
- White tea extract protects skin from oxidative stress & immune cell damage
Directions:
Simply dab the corrective cream on any problem area, gently blend, and use your kabuki brush to dust over with the matching yellow powder."
Jen's Experience: Since I have sensitive skin, I've managed to develop quite the nose for products that don't cause inflammation, but every now and again I test something that just doesn't work with my skin and my skin lets me know about it. Believe it or not, I've never had a specific product to help correct those situations, I have always just piled on some foundation and hoped for the best. But now with Tarte's Yellow Mellow, that's all changed.
Applying it involves two steps, very reminiscent of Bobbi Brown's undereye concealer. The packaging contains the corrector itself, a yellowish powder and the fantastic kabuki brush that makes it worth getting the set alone. I apply the yellow cream with my concealer brush on the reddish areas (generally between my brow or on chin) and pat in with my fingers. Then, I apply the yellow powder by dabbing the area with the kabuki brush. The redness really disappears! I also find it to be effective on other skin discolorations, not just reds.
Don't get this mixed up with an undereye concealer. I admit it, I tried it, but it really just doesn't look natural or really even cover up in the undereye area. But what does work is to use the yellow powder and kabuki brush to set your undereye concealer. I found that to be extremely effective. Oh, and the corrector actually helps to fix the problem rather than just covering it up, so you may not even need to use it two days in a row.
I think I could make it by without having this product at my disposal, but now that I have it, it seems like an essential for anyone with sensitive skin or even light acne problems.

Review: Jemma Kidd Make Up School Hi Shine Silk Touch Lip Gloss in Tea-Rose
What They Say: "Non-sticky, long-lasting formulas with anti-oxidant vitamin E."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: Hey, her description is short and to the point. I'm going to take the same approach: this gloss is lusciously soft, cushiony, non-sticky, superbly shiny, and has the faintest glimmer of sparkle (this shade is SUCH a pretty brownish pink to go with all the bold eyes of Fall or even to spice up the nude look). Oh, and it stays on for hours. I absolutely love it, and think you will, too.
Retail Price: $22.00 (available at Bergdorf Goodman in New York City, select Neiman Marcus stores, Holt Renfrew in Canada, Selfridges and Boots in the UK - go to jemmakidd.com for more information)

Fall Product Review: Jemma Kidd Make Up School Ultimate Lipstick Duo - Plumping Lip Balm and Long Last Colour
What They Say: "Use balm to prepare lips then add color for a sheer, moisturizing finish or use lipstick only for intense color stay."
Jen's Experience: From the first day I got this lipstick and lip balm combo from Jemma Kidd, I've been carrying it in my handbag and using it every chance I get. The color I am using, Eve, is ultra-bright against my pale skin, but it works well with the blue undertones in my skin. This color in particular is a dark pink with a hint of purple -- appearing nearly red at times -- so it fits in well with this season's trendy bright lips. It looks matte in the lipstick tube, but is actually quite shiny when applied.
Eve
I generally apply the lip balm first since my lips, like my skin, are usually dry. The lip balm portion of this product softens them right up and plumps out the wrinkles so that the lipstick can be applied smoothly. As they mention, the lipstick can also be used alone for a more vibrant color. The color was plenty vibrant for me when I applied the balm underneath, though.
This is definitely one of the best lipsticks I've tried in a long time. The color is great and is long-wearing, and the plumping balm is an added bonus that really makes this lipstick Totally DeLush.

New Collection: Bibo Cosmetics "Blackout" Fall 2006
What They Say: "The lights go dark, the music beins to thump, and a still blackness fills the room. You hear the click, click, click of a long-legged heel...then a camera snaps, triggering a chain of illuminate flashes aimed straight at the runway. Bibo's Fall Collection, Blackout, is the only thing you see as the start whites of the model's eyes project against a billboard of dark, sultry shades. It's a combination of glam-rock meets modern chic with dramatic eyes and a high-gloss lip. Incredibly strong, moody, and mysterious - but most of all gorgeous!
Seize the Spotlight - Long legs are overrated. Draw attention upward with a killer glance from a powerful smoky eye. Four stealthy charcoal shades line, layer and smudge while three deceiving suede shades highlight, blend and secure. This isn't your average charcoal: bronze, burgundy and indigo make this all-inclusive palette unique.
Your Moment to Shine - Create unbelievable shine with a coat of Flash and Flicker lipgloss sure to turn heads. Capture an audience with an energizing bronze gloss or revitalizing berry tone."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: First of all, let's start by saying that the packaging for this collection is dark and sleek, very fitting for its name. I love the squareness of the (large!) lip gloss tubes and the eyeshadow palette. The only negative in terms of packaging would be that it really took a few times (and some pretty persistent trying on my part) to get the top shadow tray to slide out. Once I did it about 3 times, it came much easier. On the plus side, included is an applicator with sponge tip on one end and liner brush on the other, so you can use the darker shades along the lash line (I did this with great results and the shadows last very long as liners).
As far as the actual products go, Bibo has once again impressed me. Their silky true-color shadows stay for hours and resist creasing, and these new shades are very versatile. This set can be used for daytime sheer prettiness or nighttime drama. The lower tray of suede shadows wears well for day or as base colors for the more rich, slightly shimmery shades. I acheived the look above by applying the Bronze charcoal shadow on top of the Pink suede (which resulted in a bit of a deep rich plummy color). Also, I did apply some of the Bronze with a damp cosmetic Q-tip, so keep in mind that the charcoal shadows, though looking quite dramatic in the palette, can actually be applied much more sheer dry.

As usual, Bibo's glosses are creamy and long-lasting. These two shades seem to be infused with teeny-tiny shimmer that simply increases the shine and glow on the lips. The color above is the bronze (Flicker).
Retail Prices: (The Shadow Palette) $34.00, (The Lip Glosses) $15.00 (available through select distributor stores and premier salons across the U.S. and Canada...call 1-800-456-9322 or go to bibocosmetics.com for retail locations)

Chanel Sublimage Essential Regenerating Cream
What They Say: "The ultimate in skin rejuvenation starts with one unique plant-the Vanilla Planifolia-unearthed in the farthest reaches of Madagascar.
A specific patent-pending polyfractioning technique created by CHANEL Research results in powerful anti-aging: Wrinkles, loss of firmness, dehydration, lack of radiance and inconsistency in pigmentation are pinpointed at once for regenerating action.
Skin becomes beautifully taut. Silken and supple. Glowing with the look of good health."
Jen's Experience: I was in Saks Fifth Avenue in Birmingham, AL one day and the sky fell out, leaving me trapped in my favorite department store (the horror!). I had been looking at nail polish at the Chanel counter, but when the rain started, it turned into a mini-makeover session with their Chanel representative. We started talking about skin care products, and she told me about this new product that would be coming on the market in September, Chanel Sublimage. As I was paying for my order (which grew in proportion to my time at the counter that day), she handed me a gold box with 0.2 ounces of Sublimage and said, "treat this like gold."
After getting the moisturizer home, I discovered that her imperative could be taken several ways. It was like gold because the product was still months away from market (this was June), and not many people had access to the samples of it yet. It was also valuable just from the sheer price tag. The tiny portion I received was worth approximately $42, but a full-sized container available for purchase is $350. Now, those are valid reasons why this product should be treated like gold, but I found the most value in Sublimage because it's really an amazing product.
I have never used La Mer or Sisley or any of the others that approach this price range, so I have nothing to compare this to, but here is my experience. First off, this high-quality moisturizer lasts a very long time. I've worn it to bed nightly for over a month, and I still have some moisturizer left in my container. If you regularly buy department store moisturizer and spend $40-50 per container, you may find that even with the price tag that it's not a bad value.
The moisturizer itself smells of roses. A small amount spread on the face imparts just enough moisture to hydrate the skin without feeling greasy or tacky. I get a rosy glow right after I put it on, which tells me the product is penetrating the surface and working. My dry, sensitive skin loves this product, but even if your face is oily, I can't see where this product would impart oil to your face.
I am such a fan of this moisturizer, I would recommend it to anyone who can afford the price tag. This is a splurge that is worth every penny.

Pregnancy Product Review: Belli Elasticity Belly Oil
What They Say: Belli Elasticity Belly Oil is an advanced blend of pure plant extracts that prepares skin for stretching. Tocopherol (Vitamin E) and Go-To-Kola extract have been shown in medical research to help prevent stretchmarks. Lavender and sweet almond oil soothe and calm the senses while nourishing and moisturizing to help skin stretch without the damage.
Use morning and night throughout pregnancy. Rubbing in a circular motion, apply to stomach, breasts, hips, and buttocks.
Polina’s Experience: I love everything about the Belli Elasticity Belly Oil! The scent, the packaging, the feel of the product on my skin and it’s effect! Now I know that scents are a highly subjective thing, but if you are a fan of lavender, you will love the way this stuff smells. Over the years I have used a variety of products – lotions, body washes, soaps, shampoos – that had lavender as the predominant aroma. Let me just say that some manufacturers out there clearly have no idea what lavender smells like! Belli’s oil captures the essence of lavender in the most wonderful way. It’s easy to tell that they use high quality essential oils in the product and they don’t skimp. A good 50% of my enjoyment of this product and why I would buy it again has been it’s intoxicating aroma.
The packaging is great. I love the dispenser pump. It makes it so easy to control how much of the oil comes out and minimizes spills and unnecessary waste.
Because this is an oil, of course initially, things are a little more greasy than if you were to use a lotion. But this is not a bad thing. Hopefully, some of you ladies who are pregnant or can recall being pregnant can relate, but it’s kind of fun and enjoyable to rub oil on that ever expanding belly and other parts of your weary pregnant body. It’s just so, dare I say, decadent?? And the truth in, this oil is not like Baby Oil – it actually sinks in and is absorbed within 5-7 minutes of application, leaving behind soft, supple and fragrant skin. Ahh!
But what of its purported ability to minimize/prevent stretchmarks? Well, here’s the honest truth: I don’t know! I did not use this oil with my first pregnancy and did not develop any stretchmarks. I have been using it with this pregnancy and still do not have any stretchmarks. What to make of this? I’d say that ultimately things like genetics, the rate at which you gain your pregnancy weight and the extent to which your belly grows and probably a few other factors, including your moisturizing routine, all play into whether you develop the dreaded striations or not. So am I proposing that you just leave things to chance? Not at all, just cautioning you to be realistic is all.
The bottom line is this: If you are looking for a great moisturizer to use during and post pregnancy, you enjoy the smell of lavender and the feel of luxurious oil on your skin, then Belli’s Elasticity Belly Oil is absolutely the way to go. The odds are very good that if you baby your skin through your pregnancy that it’ll be kind to you in return and I can’t think of a better way to do that than with this product.

Peter Thomas Roth Oil-Free Sunblock SPF 30
What They Say: "This moisturizing sunscreen permits minimal tanning, protecting the skin with antioxidant micellized vitamins A and E and an SPF 30. Fragrance free, PABA free, non-comedogenic."
Jen's Experience: I first tried this sunblock when I received it as a sample with a Sephora order. I put it in my stash of facial moisturizers and then ended up taking it on a trip with me. Even though I believe this product is designed to be for the body, I used it on my face, and found that I really liked its cool, creamy feel when I applied it and the ongoing moisture it gave to my face. I've used it since by the pool and by the beach, and found it really easy to apply without looking white like a ghost, but that it gives excellent sun protection as well.
I'm now using this as my every day facial moisturizer and I'm loving it. It gives an excellent base to my make-up, gives my dry skin just the right amount of moisture, and provides all the sun protection I need on a daily basis. It's even gentle enough to use under the eyes, and actually turns out to be a very good eye cream! This is a product I highly recommend for its all-around use as sun protection as well as for your general moisturizing needs. It's not often that I find such a versatile product for such a reasonable price.

Review: Graham Webb Silk Repair Leave-In Conditioner
What They Say: "If you can't tell her age by a glance at her face, why should the condition of her hair give it away? Proper care for tresses should be as important as skin care, especially with the deteriorating effects of coloring, chemical processing and heat styling. Restore locks back to original condition in one step with easy-to-use Graham Webb Silk Repair Leave in Conditioner, which protects locks for years to come while leaving it soft and supple. Silk Repair Leave in Conditioner contains our exclusive Thermacore Complex, an anti-aging regimen containing essential elements such as hydrolized silk, natural humectants and emollients for manageability and rebuilding of hair follicle by using heat as a conditioning treatment.
Hydrolyzed Silk is unique in that it acts like a typcical protein to strengthen the hair, but is also a natural humectant - capable of attracting and binding 10,000 times its own weight in moisture within the hair shaft. Thermacore Complex, found in all Graham Webb products, becomes activewith the application of heat over 98 degrees - from hot water, blow dryers and styling tools - to act a sa beneficial conditioning treatment, repairing and protecting the hair frmo the inside out. Another bonus? This daily leave-in conditioner and reconstructor seals in moisture, replacing the need for a rinse-out conditioner while comgining the conditioning effects of natural humectants and emmolients to eliminate tangles and static for easy mangageability."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: That's a lot of information, but as far as I'm concerned here's all you need to know. This stuff will add softness and a bit of shine but NO weight. I was thinking of all the leave-ins I tried when I was younger and they always had a greasy residue. Not so here. (Don't confuse this with the feeling of a deep conditioner either.) I have the same amount of body, more manageability and softness, and I find myself running my fingers through my hair more because it's SO easy to do, and feels so healthy.

Review: Product Body Road Wash and Product Cream
What They Say: (about the Road Wash)"Wash me here, wash me there! You are no longer at the mercy of public (or hotel or restaurant) soap! Road Wash™ pH- balanced body wash goes everywhere you do. Who says you can't take it with you? Road Wash™ is the Mini-Me version of our incredible soft- solid, frothy & mild body wash."
(about the Cream)"Product Cream is an incredibly rich emollient body cream infused with shea butter that sinks quickly into the skin to nurture and revive without feeling greasy. Completely cold-processed so there's no unpleasant waxiness, Cream is infused with sweet almond oil as well as the shea for the ultimate Cream dream. Use it as a hand cream, use after shaving, rub it on your elbows, knees, legs, arms, neck...get the picture? Wherever the need for some extra loving for skin exists, our wonderful and lightly scented Cream is ready to answer the call! Available in Sweet Vanilla Mango, Chocolate Dipped Orange, Pink Grapefruit and unscented. Net weight 6 ounces."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: Oh my goodness. I'm going to cut to the chase and tell you that I am really glad to have discovered Product Body. (About the Road Wash) Imagine a very softened bar soap that you could easily scoop out of a jar and lather into softnes onto your skin. Oh, and add a luscious scent that you wish you could eat. That's the Road Wash (and the regular-sized Wash, which comes in a much bigger container and lasts a long time). How often do you skip packing soap and take the risk of using what you find at a hotel or your host's home because you don't like those flimsy travel plastic soap containers and are afraid body wash will leak all over your clothes? Now just toss this jar (which takes up as much room as a small jar of face cream) into your bag and you will always have fabulous-smelling, gentle soap with you.
(About the Cream) This is a light, whipped-feeling skin nourisher that also smells as fabulous as the Wash. It soaks quickly into the skin and adds softness without greasiness. This is a good option for daily use when you just want to add a little moisture but are in need of a mood-boost.

Maine Shave Intimate Moments Shaving Cream
Note:This product is not yet on the shelves, but rumour has it that it will be stocked at Victoria's Secret stores this fall. More details about pricing and where to get it when it's released!
What They Say: "Experience a shaving cream that's as effective as waxing yet extraordinarily gentle. A shaving cream made from pure and natural ingredients that leaves skin softer, silkier, sexier than you ever dreamed it could be. A shaving cream especially created for your most intimate encounters.
From ankles to underarms to bikini area, this shaving cream helps you take it all off. A rich, gentle base of shea butter and palm oil sugar softens delicate skin, while natural nutrients protect against rashes and ingrown hairs. All that's left after shaving is your skin -- soft, sexy and smooth.
Because Intimate Moments Shaving Cream is 100% natural, it doesn't lather. Instead, just a tiny dab creates a rich, creamy base that glides over skin, and makes it easy to see where you're shavig. Best of all, Intimate Moments Shaving Cream has no harsh artificial ingredients -- only the soft, subtle scent of its all-natural ingredients.
Jen's Experience: There's something about specialty shaving products that I find really luxurious, and this one in particular really sets the bar high. From the pretty packaging to the light but clean scent, this product wins a permanent place in the precious real estate of my shower shelves. The cream is rich and applies like a thick body moisturizer, but since only a small amount is needed, it's easy to see what needs to be shaved. It will leave your skin feeling super smooth; it seems to deliver a much closer shave than my drugstore standard, Skintimate. Strangely, I haven't noticed that I have to shave less frequently due to the close shave, but I will say, my shaving schedule is a lot more pleasant with this cream on hand!

Arbonne Aromassentials Awaken Sea Salt Scrub
What They Say: "The exfoliating action of this sea salt scrub — enhanced with the Awaken Essential Oil Blend — sloughs away dead surface cells revealing brighter, healthier-looking skin.
Key Ingredients: Avocado and sweet almond extract"
Jen's Experience: Last week, I told you about my great experience with the Awaken Body Lotion. Here's another item in the Aromassentials Awaken line that I absolutely love. I often use scrubs in the shower to brighten my skin (and to prepare for applying sunless tanning products). The sea salt is mixed with an oil to saturate your skin with moisture as you exfoliate. When I get out, I don't feel coated with baby oil, just nicely moisturized. This is a great product for my dry skin, but since it doesn't leave a trace of oil on my skin, I would recommend this product for any skin type.
The scrub seems to have a stronger scent than the body lotion, but I don't mind. It's clean smelling and a little citrus-y, and really does wake me up in the morning.

Review: L'Oreal True Match Powder and Blush
What They Say: “True Match Powder precisely matches your skin’s texture and tone and coordinates perfectly with True Match Makeup, Blush, and Concealer. Micro-fine powder provides versatile coverage: blot shine, blend all over for a natural finish or build for more coverage. Wear over True Match Makeup or alone for a flawless look. Exclusive triple-refined formula makes it possible to match your skin’s texture. Never looks chalky or cakey. Oil-free and non-comedogenic. Available in 24 skin-true shades.” “True Match Blush flawlessly complements your skin’s texture and tone and coordinates perfectly with True Match Makeup, Powder, and Concealer. Opti-Match technology creates uniquely true-to-life shades that flawlessly complement your skintone and undertone to perfection, leaving you with the most natural flush of color imaginable. A unique Opti-Blend formula provides a skin-true texture that blends smoothly, never looks chalky or cakey. Stays fresh and natural-looking hour after hour. Oil-free, vitamin-rich, and non-comedogenic.”
Toya’s Take: I have made no bones about my love for the L’Oreal True Match line. I think L’Oreal has really hit on something – the feel of the products is elegant and stands up to the more expensive department store brands and the color options are beautiful. As a woman of color, that is very important – few foundations/concealers are made to really address our skintone issues, not even the lines that are supposedly formulated for women of color. I have used L’Oreal True Match Foundation, Super-Blendable Powder and Concealer in Neutral 8 Cappucino and Neutral Medium/Deep to much success. Having always used Neutral and been pleased with it, I decided to try the Warm option of the same “deepness” level and see if I could tell a difference. Well, I can … and I am blown away. The Neutral, like I said, was great. But, with the Warm option, not only did it “match” my skin … it “replicated” it. It’s not just the color that was matched, but the tone. It’s the same brown in color, but also achieves the same “goldness” that’s naturally present in my skin, sans make-up. Y’all, I am impressed. I cannot say enough. There are no words. L’Oreal has me in their fan club for ever, just on the strength of the True Match line. Speaking of which …
While I was in front of the True Match display, I decided to try the L’Oreal True Match Super-Blendable Blush. Each “tone/level” has a blush designed to go with it. I bought the Warm 7/8 Soft Sun shade and I love it! It gives a nice warmth to my cheeks, without looking “blush-like.” For a workday or a weekend when you want to look fresh and natural, this is a great product. It is now a staple.

But this body lotion from Arbonne International smells so wonderful, I look forward to putting it on after my shower every day. It doesn't smell overly fruity or perfume-y, but is just pleasant and clean.
As a lotion, it keeps my legs and arms feeling healthy and moisturized, but is much less greasy than a lot of body lotions out there. I can put it on after my shower and put on jeans in 5 minutes without being conscious of the tacky feel of a lotion. At the end of the day when I climb into my bath, my legs still feel moisturized.
This body lotion is an absolute winner. It works for my dry skin, but since it's non-greasy, I would recommend it for all skin types who are looking for a totally wearable body lotion with a fantastic scent.

Pregnancy Product Review: Mama Mio Wonder-Full Balm
What They Say: "A blend of nine different oils and waxes, this product is super-targeted moisture. Designed to rid you of those obscure little dry patches (a weird side-effect of pregnancy), our Wonder-Full Balm soon became an obsession with all of us – it is the handiest product to keep in a handbag and rub on anything that needs a bit of glow or a hit of super-moisture.
Use on lips, cuticles, hands, elbows, heels, knees; pretty much anywhere that moisture is needed.
The ingredients are so lovely:
Gold of Pleasure Oil
Meadowfoam Seed Oil
Avocado Oil
Evening Primrose Oil
Carrot Oil
Sweet Almond Oil
Manuka Oil
Carnauba Wax and Beeswax
It is the dream team to have on your side when you and your skin are parched."
Polina's Experience: When I reviewed another one of Mama Mio's products here earlier, I forgot to give you the scoop on the talent behind the products. Here's a little background info:
Mama Mio was conceived in London by three friends (Kathy, Sian and Tanya) who have worked in skincare for ten years. In that time they have had 7 babies between them and realized a need for specific, luxurious and safe creams that help skin with the nine month s-t-r-e-t-c-h! They have worked with their favourite chemists and aromatherapists to create perfect pregnancy salvation products.
I gotta give these ladies the props! Wonderf-Full Balm is indeed wonderful! Packaged in a fun container and easy to dispense, this super moisturizer is a pleasure to use. It comes out thick, almost Vaseiline-like and sinks in with some gentle coaxing as you massage it into whatever feels dry. All you're left with is touchable, soft skin. And like the other products from this line, this one, too, smells great! Ahhh!
One complaint: At 1 fluid ounce, there is not a whole lot of balm to go around, so I certainly wouldn't use it daily on any large part of my body, ie. legs or belly or arms, at least not if I want the stuff to last more than two weeks. So yes, hands, elbows, knees - the places where you need an extra dose of moisture - this product does the job and does it with style.

Review: Laura Mercier Shimmer Loose Powder
What They Say: “This weightless powder imparts a soft, gentle shimmer that’s flattering on everyone. It never looks harsh or artificial, even during the day and doesn’t add additional color.”
Toya’s Take: I am in love with this product! It has come highly recommended from other beauty mavens, so I knew I had to have it! Unfortunately, Sephora only sells it online, not in the stores, but I was in King of Prussia Mall (heaven!), so I was able to walk over to Neiman Marcus and pick it up at the Laura Mercier counter.
The powder lives up to the hype. It works as a beautiful bronzer for all complexions and a wonderful, shimmery blush for brown-skinned women. It adds a soft, luminescent glow to the skin and feels positively silky going on – it’s the smoothest powder I’ve ever felt! It’s marketed as a setting powder, but I wouldn’t really use it all over, unless you don’t mind having a faint glow on your entire face. However, when brushed lightly across cheeks, forehead, nose and chin (like you would with a bronzer) you instantly look fabulous. Be aware, though, that, contrary to what “they say”, the powder does add just a bit of color, in the case of “Sun Dust”, a coppery hint that I think is quite lovely.

Paul Mitchell Extra Body Sculpting Foam
What They Say:
"Adds Extra-Body – A conditioning formula that provides extra body, fullness and control
Provides Flexible Hold – This thick, rich foam creates a flexible hold while enhancing shine and sealing in moisture
Great for Blow-Dried Styles – Super emollient conditioners provide manageability and high shine"
Jen's Experience: Can you believe this is the first Paul Mitchell product we've reviewed on DeLush? Well, believe me, with results like these, it won't be the last. This Paul Mitchell mousse is the star of my hair care products, giving me amazing amounts of body without making my hair extra dry. One of the great things about this product is that, unlike a lot of volumizing products I've used, if I use too much on my hair, it's not sticky. I just keep blow-drying and the foam settles into my hair making it really easy to style. It's really amazing. I saw this product mentioned in a magazine by a hairstylist who named this product as one of three he couldn't do without. Now I know why!

Estee Lauder Azurée The Cheek Glow
What They Say: "Experience the look, the feel, the beauty of azurée, Summer 2006, from the Tom Ford Estée Lauder Collection. Three color palettes--azurée, st. tropée and cap bronzée. Three mysterious places that epitomize the legends of the beach. Create your look with the shades from one palette and the universal must-haves that work with all 3 palettes. Tom Ford on the azurée makeup collection: "This is a collection for the woman whose fantasy takes her away to sexy, remote beaches."
Starting at top of cheekbone, near middle of ear, apply forward toward nose, following natural line of face and blend."
Jen's Experience: I was a little doubtful about how well this would work when I first took the cap off of the Cheek Glow. It seemed a little too solid to apply easily and blend well. All my doubts are gone now; the more I use it, the more I like it.
This cream blush applies like a cream blush, and blends easily. Unlike other cream blushes that come in a pot, this one allows my fingertips to stay relatively clean aside from some light blending. Because it's more solid than other cream blushes I've used, it is much more difficult to over-apply so the effect is really natural. In fact, I like to make a second swipe on the underside of my cheekbons for extra depth.
As for the color, if you're using a face glow product regularly or you have a warmer skintone, I think you'll find you like this color a lot. For those of you with blue undertones (like me), you'll definitely need to test it with your skin-tone. I find that it looks great when I have a little color, but when I've been spending too much time under the fluorescent lights at the office, it's a bit orangey. They make another shade called St. Tropee glow that is more of a pink, and that may be a better choice than the Azuree for the fairer skin tones.
Overall, the formulation is fantastic and it's definitely a product I'm hoping Estee Lauder continues to expand beyond their Summer Collection.

Estée Lauder The Body Tint
Today's review of The Body Tint is just the first of many reviews of products from the Tom Ford for Estee Lauder Azuree Collection that we'll be featuring this week. Want to try some of the Azuree products for yourself? Register for DeLush Delivered and you'll be entered in this month's giveaway.
What They Say: "Experience the look, the feel, the beauty of azurée, Summer 2006, from the Tom Ford Estée Lauder Collection. Three color palettes, and a body collection that captures the spirit of sultry afternoons that go on forever, and wraps you in the seductive glow of summer. The Body Tint is a liquid body bronzer to smooth over legs and body for the look of summer--all over. Lightly fragranced with the provocative, modern scent of the azurée body collection."
Jen's Experience: I have so many great things to say about this product, I hardly know where to start. Straight out of the bottle, the ginger-colored bronzer is a thick liquid that is easy to control as I spread it on my arms, legs and chest. I found that it's easier to make the color even when I worked with smaller amounts, but I had no trouble correcting areas of over and under-application. This product can also be used to cover up streaks from your self-tanner or even light tan lines. Be sure to wait until the tint is completely dry before putting on your clothing. Luckily, it seems to dry fairly quickly.
The tint itself is very natural, not at all orange, and seems to last a long time even in heat and humidity. I wouldn't recommend it for wearing to the beach or to the pool, but I had no problems dining outdoors on a steamy July evening. And if you're worried about the color sweating into your clothes, I'd recommend testing it at home to get a feel for how it reacts to your body chemistry.
The scent of this bronzer is worlds above any of the self-tanners in my cabinet. In fact, it has the scent of a high-end perfume. I can't help feeling gorgeous when I'm wearing it. It's one of the most exciting products I've tested in a long time.

Review: Graham Webb Brit Style Wax Pomade
What They Say: "This unique wax pomade provides touchable hold while delivering soft control and second-day texture."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: With my hair's tendency to have unruly ends even after a blowout or straightening, I usually need some sort of product to get that final finished look. Also, though my hair is mostly fine I have a LOT of it, so it also can look a little "big" after blowdrying without the right styling. This light pomade works to fix these things for me. It's not sticky and doesn't weigh the hair down while smoothing texture and even adding a bit of shine. It gets those flyaways under control and does indeed give your hair that bit of subtle pliability that you often have to wait a day or two for after washing to get.
User Tip: Obviously, you could always add too much of this and get weighed-down results (but that would take a lot of product), so be careful to concentrate on below mid-to-end areas of the hair first, and also just do the very ends of bangs avoiding the hair underneath that will directly touch your forehead if you have a tendency to get product-related zits (I do). Also, if you have extremely long hair with little to no layering, I'm not sure this would be as beneficial to you as it would to those with midlength-to-short hair with some layers or texturing. I can also see this as being a fablulous hair product for MEN.

Review: Maine Shave Natural Daily Body Cleanser, Body Splash, and Moisturizer
What They Say: (about the Body Cleanser) "Discover how radiant your body can be with Maine Shave Natural Daily Body Cleanser. It contains all-natural extracts of cucumber, rose, linden and witch hazel to gently exfoliate away impurities, and refreshes your skin leaving it with a brisk clean feeling. Clay and wheat protein help improve skin's elasticity." (about the Body Splash) "All natural Maine Shave Daily Body Splash astringent refreshes skin as it tightens pores, controls shine, and restores normal skin pH. Linden petals anti-inflammatory properties leave skin feeling fresh and calm. Birch extract soothes shaving irritation while increasing skin elasticity. Rose petal extract is the finish note for that smooth, soft, cool touch." (about the Moisturizer) "Maine Shave Natural Daily Body Moisturizer uses nothing but all-natural ingredients. It contains allantoin to heal and soften skin by rejuvenating skin cells. Sweet almond oil, olive oil and shea butter, preserve skin from moisture loss. Lemon and orange extract is quickly absorbed leaving your skin feeling clean, refreshed, and hydrated. Chamomile soothes skin leaving it soft and silky smooth."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: When we got these products from Maine Shave, we had never heard of them before. So I really had no idea what to expect. It seems this company offering high-quality shaving products for men also have something for us women to try. Off I toted the three handsomely-packaged products to the bathroom later to test them.
The cleanser comes out creamy and the scent is comforting like oatmeal and lavendar (even though those aren't the components, but hey, that's what I got out of it) with a bit of yummy yet clean freshness that made me happy with it right away. It lathers up only a bit (but that's not a bad thing) and leaves skin clean-feeling but not tight and dry.
I've never really understood the concept of body splashes and their significance. But hey, if you dig it then this one will probably make you happy. It also has a wonderful subtle scent that isn't at all perfume-y and doesn't have the bite-like twinge of alcohol in your nostrils like some of these products do. It is refreshing and cool.
Finally, the moisturizer is substantial but not too thick to easily rub into the skin. It's one of those things that I think I'd pull out any time after bath or shower when I'm craving a feeling of comfort and relaxation. It also has the same high-quality pump that's on the cleanser bottle, which makes it easy to use and control the amount dispensed.
Overall, I've been very happy with my introduction to Maine Shave for Women, and I think you will, too. With soothing scents that don't overpower and well-made packaging that makes you feel truly pampered, these products are something I'd definitely recommend to a friend or as nice gifts for the Bath Product Fanatic you know.

Review: Tom Ford Esteé Lauder Collection - The Sun Bronzer
What They Say: "Experience the look, the feel, the beauty of Azurée, Summer 2006, from the Tom Ford Estée Lauder Collection. Tom Ford on the Azurée makeup collection: "This is a collection for the woman whose fantasy takes her away to sexy, remote beaches." Smooth on wherever the sun would naturally give you color, in this order:
- Forehead
- Cheekbone
- Bridge of nose
- Sides of nose"
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: Of the powder bronzers I've been trying recently, this is one of the most realistic and non-scary to use. The color is truly a bronze-y tan, with no orange tint at all and only an incredibly subtle hint of shimmer. It also goes on sheer and builds, so you don't have to worry about accidentally putting a big blotch on your face if you don't blow the excess off the brush after you swirl it on the product. The color stays true during the day and doesn't irritate skin. In my opinion this is a truly reliable and user-friendly bronzer, especially for those with fair and medium skin tones.

Review: Lash Control Mascara
What They Say: "An innovative, squeezable mascara package which allows you to continuously regulate the desired amount of mascara product on the brush.
The built in wiper sleeve at the mouth of the mascara tube is easily manipulated.... Now your brush can be BOTH AN APPLICATOR AND LASH SEPARATOR.
STOP SCRAPING IT OFF OR WIPING WITH A TISSUE. JUST SQUEEZE. ITS [sic] THAT SIMPLE.
The mascara comes with a fitted, snap-down vinyl "baggie" for added protection inside your make-up bag. The extra inch of distance provided by the flexible wiper offers another barrier to air and foreign particle contact with the formula which make the mascara perform better and for a longer period of time.
The LashControl™ wiper sleeve and container are manufactured by a major supplier to the cosmetics industry. This innovative system has been in development for more than 4 years and has been successfully tested for functionality, loss-of-volume shelf life and durability.
The FORMULA: We have an exclusive arrangement with a nationwide supplier of mascara formulae. Our promotional packages contain a Conditioning and Lengthening formula called ULTRA LONG AND SILKY in a rich natural black color. We are sure you will love this mascara which is carefully blended and contains organic ingredients including Chamomile flower extract, ginko biloba extract and ginseng root extract among others."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: First of all, you can't help being a little intrigued by the tube. My husband walked by my desk last night where I had it set out for this review and stopped short asking "WHAT is THIS?" It's different, this is obvious. But is it good?
Oh, yes.
I wanted to be sure I wasn't just caught up in the whole novelty of the thing. But honestly, this mascara is excellent. It doesn't clump, builds body and a little length, and doesn't feel hard and crusty no matter how many layers you apply. Oh, and it stays put pretty well, too.
But what about that squeegee-like wiper inside the tube? Well, here's the thing. I can tell that it actually helps eliminate excess just from the wand passing through it in general. True, you can squeeze it and theoretically it removes even more so that you can use the brush to separate lashes without added buildup of product. I was skeptical, because I couldn't really see a difference when I just pulled out the wand normally or when I used the wiper, no matter how hard I looked.
However, if you squeeze the tube and sort of twirl the wand out of it, then apply it to your lashes, you will see that you get no visible added mascara on your lashes. I think the reason it's hard to see a difference is because in general there isn't a ton of product on the wand to begin with because there is some cleaning of the brush normally without squeezing the tube, which is what helps eliminate clumps.
My conclusion is that this isn't just a gimmick product; it actually works, and works well. Unfortunately, it only comes in black at the moment, but they say they're working on new formulas so hopefully that will include color ranges as well.
Retail Price: $18.00 each, with small price breaks for multiple orders (available currently only through lashcontrol.com)

Review: Buddha Nose Detox Bath Salts
What They Say: "Cleanse, clear, soak out all the toxins that bombarded you during the day. Let the organic and wild-crafted essential oils of Ginger Root, Juniper Berry, Grapefruit, Fennel Seed, Cypress, Lemon and Rose Geranium release what is weighing you down, and return you to a place of clarity. These oils are blended into a carefully selected combination of salts that include Dead Sea Salts imported from Israel and Si Salts from Baja California."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: Unlike some (and in my opinion far too many) bath salts, this actually smells PLEASANT. I was really glad, because believe me this makes the testing a lot more enjoyable. It's a little citrusy (but not too much) and in the bath the scent diffuses in a subtle, non-overpowering way. I found the aroma really relaxing, and the oils in the formula actually conditioned my skin a little bit without any slickness afterward.
If you're a bath nut, and like the idea of trying salts, this will be a very nice introduction to them. If you're already into salts, I think you'll find this one to be worth it.
Retail Price: $20.00 (buddhanose.com or go here for LOTS of retail options, international sellers, and other online stores where Buddha Nose is available.)

Review: Seabreeze Naturals Products
Naturals Foaming Face Wash
"Nurture your skin with sea-based minerals and nutrients combined with mild antibacterial agents that leave you clean and free of breakouts. Sea Breeze Naturals reaches down into pores, washing away problem-causing dirt, oil and the germs that cause blemishes without drying or irritating your skin.
This daily cleanser provides a foamy lather that helps keep skin balanced and super clean. It removes dirt, oil and make-up and the dead skin cells that can dull your complexion, without over-drying."
Did you have some SeaBreeze astringent under your counter as a teenager when you first started to get acne? Well, I did, and I remember how much that stuff stung, so when I first got this to review, I thought all of the products would kill my sensitive skin. Turns out this product, which isn't even their product formulated for sensitive skin, is great for my skin. It doesn't seem to be very foamy to me, but it really does provide a good clean that works to remove make-up, even stubborn under-the-eye make-up and lip stains. I wish it were a little more viscous so that it would be easier to apply, but that's s a small wish for a terrific all-around drugstore cleanser.
Naturals Purifying Clay Cleanser
"Nurture your skin with sea-based minerals and nutrients combined with mild antibacterial agents that leave you clean and free of breakouts. Sea Breeze Naturals reaches down into pores, washing away problem-causing dirt, oil and the germs that cause blemishes without drying or irritating your skin.
This unique facial cleanser provides a light lather that purifies by reducing oil while it gently exfoliates for clean, smooth skin. It removes dirt, oil and make-up and the dead skin cells that can dull your complexion, without over-drying."
I like to think of this product as a clay mask for the impatient. This thick cleanser is certainly the consistency of clay, and provides that deep, down clean feeling in my pores without having to wait 10 or 15 minutes. I also like the clean, ocean smell of this product as opposed to the strong smell of a traditional clay mask. Now, this isn't one that you'll want to use around your eyes, so I don't actually use this every day, but more when I feel that I need a little more intense clean, 2-3 times a week. At that frequency, it's great for preventing little breakouts and also doesn't irritate my sensitive skin.
Naturals Oil Removing Astringent
"This is going to make a splash! Only NEW Sea Breeze Naturals captures the nutrient power of the sea in a new skin care line with cleansing, healing, super-hydrating sea minerals to optimize your skin's performance and make it healthier than ever before.
-Five natural sea minerals help draw in moisture for continuous condition.
-Ion-balanced to boost cellular metabolism, restore health function.
-A protective barrier neutralizes free radicals, allergens, and pollutants.
See what your skin can be...Acne Prevention Formula with Sea Minerals & Nutrients"
This isn't the same astringent that graced your countertop when you were 15. Although it still stings a little bit, and the strong smell could pull someone out of a fainting spell, this particular version strikes me as being much more gentle than previous versions. It always surprises me when I use a toner or astringent how much makeup I missed with my regular cleanser on the sides of my nose or on the edges of my face. This is the final step in making my face clean and blemish-free.
I just want to say one more thing: I've been jumping around between a lot of cleansers lately, so I may have desensitized by skin to a degree. But normally, starting a new skin care routine like this with all new products would cause some degree of irritation. I think it's a testament to the quality of these products that I've been irritation and blemish-free since I started using them.
Naturals Hydrating Moisturizer
"Sea Breeze Naturals Hydrating Moisturizer completes your skincare regimen by keeping your skin nourished and in perfect balance. The special blend of Sea Minerals and Nutrients combined with Vitamin E, work to thoroughly hydrate your skin where it needs it most to improve its overall condition and texture. Natural, oil controlling ingredients reduce shine, for a clean, matte finish without clogging pores. "
This thick moisturizer is terrific for my dry, sensitive skin. It feels light and soothing and its soft scent is very clean. I'm always surprised at how thick it is when I apply it, but how well it sinks into my skin, leaving it soft and moisturized but not at all greasy. This makes it a great moisturizer to use under make-up. I would love to see a version of this with some SPF built-in so I could use this in the daytime!

Review: Skin Alison Raffaele Mineral Powder Foundation
What They Say: "This sheer, mineral powder foundation soothes and calms the skin, and is 100 percent oil, fragrance, dye- and talc-free. This light, mineral-based formula is suitable for all skin types, particularly oily/acne prone skin, thanks to the sheer, natural-looking, matte coverage that evens out skin tone and blurs minor imperfections and the high mineral content that helps balance excess oil production. Micronized titanium dioxide and zinc oxide provide natural protection against UVA/UVB rays.
To use: Simply sweep on with a large powder brush or a velour powder puff until the desired coverage is achieved. May be used in conjunction with concealer for additional coverage. Darker shades can also be applied as a wash over the face as a bronzer."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: I've tried some other mineral makeup lines before and was less than impressed with the way they looked VERY orange on my skin and/or made my face feel itchy. So I was hesitant to say the least this time. What a relief it was to find these problems didn't occur when I used this foundation.
I use a brush when applying this, and the light to medium coverage is exactly what I look for. I simply apply concealer first to cover red areas or undereye circles. This powder foundation does a wonderful job giving a soft-focus look to pores, and really evens out my complexion. As you know, I have a heavy tendency (especially in warm weather) to get oily in the T-zone area, and I noticed that my skin looked fresh and oil-free for hours (it even looked good after a half-hour walk outside in the blazing sun). My skin wasn't irritated at all, which was another plus.
I'd say one thing to keep in mind is to estimate LIGHT when choosing your color, if you're buying this online. I was using Skintone 3, and while I find that works for me, I definitely wouldn't have wanted to go any darker, unless I did want to take their advice and use a darker shade as a bronzer.

Review: Kiss My Face Almost Butter Organic Moisturizer
What They Say: "Quench your skin's thirst with this hydrating moisturizer. The combination of certified organic jojoba oil, olive oil, shea butter, and cocoa butter will leave your skin pampered and fully satisfied."
Jen's Experience: I like using Kiss My Face products in general because of their extensive use of natural ingredients and their stance against animal testing. But this product brings my love to an all-new level. Here's a body moisturizer that is designed for dry skin that really works without leaving my skin greasy at all. You may notice when you apply it that the white lotion doesn't really sink in all that quickly, but given a few minutes, it soaked in and left my legs feeling silky smooth. And did I mention the smell? Really fantastic. Bottom line? This body moisturizer is a winner for my dry skin, and I think for anyone out there with normal to dry skin that this is a product you will love.

Review: Back to Basics Bamboo Straightening Shampoo & Conditioner and Straightening Crème

What They Say: (about the shampoo & conditioner) "A beneficial blend of bamboo, ivy, avocado oil and panthenol. The shampoo's color-safe formula acts as a humidity barrier to keep straight hair soft, shiny and frizz-free."
(about the crème) Effectively smoothes curls, waves, and frizz without leaving any buildup, so hair stay touchable and soft. Also, adds an additional layer of protection against thermal tools. Just apply evenly on damp hair and blow dry straight."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: (about the shampoo & conditioner) I have to come right out with it. Frankly, I'm thrilled with this formula. The clear shampoo alone makes my hair feel soft when it's rinsed out. Then the conditioner, which is more gel-like than cream-like, finishes off the super-soft feeling. After blowdrying, I don't notice any weighing-down, but instead very frizz-tamed and soft locks. I also feel like my hair has more swing and it even looks healthier. Now, my hair is very thick, but the strands are fine and prone to waves and frizz. If you struggle with thin or limp hair, you may want to be careful and perhaps even find out if your stylist thinks this will work for you (maybe they can use it on you at your next appointment). I tend to think because of the products' lack of buildup during my experience that it won't be a problem. (Readers with fine or thin hair who've used this already - please go ahead and leave a comment to let us know how it worked for you!).
(about the straightening crème) Stick to applying this a few inches away from your roots, comb it through, and blowdry - and you'll have sleeker heat-styled hair. I think this combined with the Bamboo Straightening Shampoo & Conditioner really makes a difference, especially when you do a blowout or use a straightening iron. If you aren't really going to use a heat styling method, this likely is not necessary if you just use the shampoo & conditioner alone.
Retail Prices: $9.95 for the shampoo, $10.95 for the conditioner, $10.95 for the crème (exclusively through premier salons and distributors across North America...to find a salon or distributor near you, please call 800-456-9322 or go to www.backtobasics.com)

Review: Skin Alison Raffaele Transparent Finish & Transparent Finish To Go

What They Say: (about Transparent Finish) "Transparent Finish setting powder is completely invisible when applied to the skin, either over liquid makeup or by itself. The clarity of this unique oil and fragrance free product makes it suitable for all skin tones and skin types. Unlike traditional translucent powders, Transparent Finish never looks ashy on darker skins, never settles into fine lines on dry skin, and never turns orangey on oily skin." (about Transparent Finish To Go) "Now you can take it with you! An ingenious little brush that holds just enough Transparent Finish loose powder in its handle for ease of application and convenience. To dispense the powder directly into the "super-goat" cashmere soft bristles, remove the cover, push back the brush guard, turn upside-down and gently shake. To refill the brush, simply unscrew the bottom cylinder."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: Don't let the fact that this powder is pure, BRIGHT white scare you off - it really IS nearly invisible and very sheer on your skin. The normal pot of powder is easy enough to manage; just give it a small shake with the lid still on, set it down and tap the top of the lid, then carefully open. There will be plenty of powder resting in the sift-through inner lid for you to use. This cuts down shine right away with no powdery buildup and is so superfine that it's ideal for setting makeup (and would even be the perfect consistency to set red lipstick like the pros tell you to).
For touchups in one incredibly easy and compact travel size, the Transparent Finish To Go powder-containing brush is great for tossing in your purse before you head out the door. The brush is quite soft and doesn't irritate skin. I had some sporadic trouble getting the powder to shake out into the bristles at first. I found the best method was to tilt it upside-down and lightly tap the tube on the back of my other wrist. I also thought that once the powder-filled end wasn't quite as full it distributed a bit easier...so I think that it's best not to fill it to the very rim initially.
Overall, the formula itself is an excellent face powder. Though this isn't going to cover up or disguise skin imperfections alone, that's not what it's meant for. It WILL set whatever you use to create a perfect look for several hours, and eliminates oil for a while without adding cakey-ness as you touch up during the day. I'd say that the regular pot is a nice investment if you have the money, because you really do get a lot and it should last a good while. If you have a bit more to spend and really like the idea of having something as easy and mess-free in your purse as this innovative all-in-one brush, go for it. Remember, you're paying for the brush as well in this case, which is of a high quality and contributes to the higher cost.(The only thing is, if you used a compact with pressed powder, you'd have a mirror AND shine control...but it's up to you to decide what you like.)
Retail Prices: $27.50 - Transparent Finish(sephora.com), $42.00 - Transparent Finish To Go (sephora.com)

Estee Lauder Perfectionist Peel
This product is not yet out on the market. Stay tuned for more details about when it will become available and the retail price!
What They Say: "You're born with smooth, perfect skin. But as you get older, skin's ability to renew itself begins to slow down dramatically. Gradually, the fine, even texture becomes rough and uneven as skin is less able to shed dull, dead cells and regenerate new ones. The result? Skin looks lifeless. Lines, wrinkles, and age spots look more visible. Your skin needs a jump start.
While scrubs and masks do a good job of smoothing the surface of the skin, Glycolic Peels, now a standard procedure in the dermatologist's office, offer the true revolution in skin re-smoothing. A single treatment can clear away dead surface cells, unstop clogged pores and leave skin looking dramatically more radiant, fresher and smoother.
Now, with just one treatment, you can achieve the same results as a 30% professional Glycolic Acid peel in the privacy and convenience of your own home with this advanced DermSolution from Estee Lauder."
Jen's Experience: Normally, I get a new mask or scrub from the store over the weekend, and I'll settle into a nice bubble bath so that I can enjoy the process. My skin will tingle a little when I put it on and when I remove it, my face feels like it can breathe, but my face doesn't necessarily look all that different.
My experience with this product was totally different.
I spread a thin layer of the Thermal Facial Peel all over my moist face after I washed it. Immediately, it felt very warm on my face. Over the 15 minutes I relaxed with it on my face, it went from warm to a little tingly, to feeling like it was making its way deep into my pores.
Once the 15 minutes were up, I removed the peel using the Calming neutralizer pads. I felt like the neutralizer pads weren't really all that calming, but they did a great job removing the peel and really making my face feel clean.
Immediately afterwards, my face was very rosy. By morning, it was back to its normal shade, but definitely had more of a glow. My skin tone seems to be much more even. I've even contemplated not wearing foundation to work days after using the peel!
I am really a big fan of this product alread in the short time that I've used it. It may not be as inexpensive as some of the peels you'll find in the drugstore, but there are 10-15 applications in the packaging for the Perfectionist Peel, and I think you'll find the results closer to that of a professional facial rather than your every day mud mask.
Rating:

Update: I spoke with an Estee Lauder representative today in my local department store. The peels are now arriving in stores, but, at least in her case, they were sold immediately. You can place an order with them and they will hold one for you as they arrive. The retail price will be $85.

Review: Lotus Skincare Lip Balms and Body Balm
![]()
What They Say: (About the SPF 18 Lip Balms - in Papaya and Ginger Lime) "A blend of moisturizing ingredients such as coconut oil, olive oil, soybean oil and Vitamin E, this balm not only nurtures delicate lip tissue but also protects it from harsh ultra violet rays."
(About the Lip Balm Tins - in Grapefruit Pear and Green Tea Pomegranate) "This rich nourishing formula is packed with natural conditioning ingredients such as coconut oil, beeswax, olive oil, lanolin and Vitamin E. It soothes and moisturizes without feeling greasy."
(About the Green Tea Pomegranate Body Balm) "Super hydrating for any part of your body. Extremely lightweight yet emollient, this velvety formula containing jojoba oil simply melts into the skin leaving it baby soft with a luminous glow. It is undoubtedly the coolest moisturizer since it has a powder finish. Green Tea and Pomegranate balance perfectly between fresh and pure, sweet and tart."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: First of all, I have to tell you how fabulous all of Lotus Skincare's products SMELL. I mean sure, you read a balm description and it sounds okay, but it often ends up on the short end of the good-scent stick. Not so with these. These are some incredibly unique scents that are ALL more than pleasant. The SPF 18 lip balms are very emollient and soft, yet incredibly light. The balms in the tins are a bit more dense, with slightly thicker coverage but no stickiness. And the body balm might be a bit different than you anticipate. It is very soft and melts with your body temperature when you rub your fingers into the tin. When you apply it on your skin it's actually incredibly light. It doesn't provide an intense hydration, but it does give a very lightweight softness that feels, as they say, powdery-dry to the touch. This would be a great balm to stick in your bag to relieve dry skin on the go or to have near your desk to keep hands nice and soft.
Retail Prices: SPF 18 Lip Balms - $5.00, Lip Balm Tins - $10.00, Body Balm - $20.00 (available at lotusskincare.com or click here to find a retail location near you that carries Lotus Skincare products)

Review and New Product Announcement: Estee Lauder High Gloss Lip Gloss
(This product will be available in June - read on for our sneak peek!)
What They Say: "Have you been looking for an extra glossy with a cushiony comfortable-to-wear formula that never feels sticky? Presenting Estée Lauder High Gloss, a lip gloss packed with nourishing ingredients that moisturize and imporive the condition of lips to make them look smoother and feel softer, while imparting a blindingly beautiful gleam.
High Gloss drenches your lips with a delectable "wet"-looking color that provides a sheer to medium coverage that lasts without heaviness.
Thanks to a special blend of polymers and conditioners, your lips will appear full, lush, less lines, and feel fantastically hydrated and velvety soft."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: The folks at Estée Lauder have hit on something worth talking about with this new gloss. It truly is super-soft and comfortable (ever tried M·A·C's Lip Gelée? - it's got a similar cushiony feel), looks incredible without the stickiness that often accompanies high-shine glosses, and has very nice staying power. With yummy scents and weightless pretty color, you can use this gloss alone (the easy mess-free squeeze tube makes low-maintenance look GOOD) or over liner or your favorite lipstick for added oomph. Either way, you may want to snag a few of the many shades available (ranging from bronzes to berries to pinks) as soon as they hit the counters!
Retail Price: $16.00 (available in June at esteelauder.com and in select department stores)

Review: Bibo Eye Shadow (in New Shades!)
What They Say: "Ultra-silky eye shadow applies evenly, blends and builds easily. New shades include: Muse, Smolder Duo, Subliminal Duo, Illusion Trio, Luna Duo and Dusk Duo.
* Vitamin E protects, moisturizes & conditions. * Apply wet for more intense color, dry for a veil of color over the lid."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: This definitely another winner from Bibo in my book. These shadows are amazingly soft and look beautiful whether applied lightly or a bit thicker for a more intense look. Available in both matte and a subtle shimmer finish, as well as fabulous duo combinations (see the new shades and the others by enlarging the picture above), these look pretty and not at all dry or powdery on the eye. If you need products that don't emphasize eye dryness or crèpe-iness or if you simply want a shadow that is less powdery-looking, Bibo's range of shadow colors will make you and your lids very happy!
Retail Price: $13.00 (available through select distributor stores and premier salons across the U.S. and Canada...call 800.456.9322 or go to bibocosmetics.com for salon locations near you)

Review: Aquafina Hydrating Lip Oil
What They Say: That's a great question - what DO they say? I had a hard time finding something online about this product. I even had to take my own picture! But hey, Aquafina isn't used to the beauty game yet, so I'll cut them some slack. Here's some info I managed to get for you - "The lip oil combines the brand recognition of Aquafina bottled water with a botanically enriched formula to soothe and moisturize lips. The new product offers a clean, refreshing taste. The semi-transparent crisp blue tube offers a 10g fill and features a slant-tipped, soft sponge applicator. Lip gloss lovers will appreciate the moisturizing benefits as well as the super wet shine."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: This is actually a very soothing formula for lips. The first thing you'll notice when you apply it is the minty scent and flavor. If nothing else, you can always pull this out after lunch or dinner for a quick breath fix! But aside from the pleasant and not-at-all-overpowering minty-sweet taste, the next thing to notice is how well the coverage is. Lips are incredibly moistened and conditioned, and stay that way for quite a while. This isn't sticky at ALL or too shiny and gloppy. It actually gives lips a very subtle pretty shine. This is one of my new faves from the Drugstore!

Review: TheBalm Plump Your Pucker Lip Gloss
What They Say: "Formulated with a special combination of folic acid, menthol and vitamin C, these sexy glosses increase blood flow to the lips and reduce the look of fine lines. But the lip building benefits have only just begun... an additional ingredient, Maxi-lip, works cumulatively to create lasting fullness. Be prepared for a poutier pucker after 30 days!"
Jen's Experience: Looking for a replacement for LipFusion that doesn't cost $38 bucks? I've got what you're looking for right here. I get the very same tingle, with similar results, even a similar flavor with this product. The shade I used was "Ruby My Grapefruit", but turned out to be very sheer, so I use it over a nude lip pencil for a little more color. I find it to be very long-lasting for a gloss, without being thick or sticky. Finally I've found a lip plumper that I can afford to use every day, and maybe even get an extra for my purse!

What They Say: "Lip Butter is rich in nourishing oils for natural healing and moisture maintenance. A delicious blend of herbal infused jojoba, sweet almond, shea butter and beeswax with therapeutic grade essential oil blend. Hand-poured in an oversized tube for maximum lip coverage. Soothing, smoothing, and velvety good!"
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: With its subtle citrusy-sweet scent and super-soft just-right consistency, I can't say much more about this formula than that it's pretty much exactly what a balm should be. Soothing and long-lasting conditioning are packed into this large tube with no chemical scent or taste like with Chapstick and many others.

Blinc Mascara: New Formulation
What They Say: "Blinc's Kiss Me is the world’s first mascara innovation to form tiny water-resistant tubes around your lashes that stay on better than waterproof mascaras yet come off easily without the need for a makeup remover. Kiss Me mascara is not an oil-based paint like traditional mascaras, which means it cannot smudge, run, clump or flake into your eyes - making it ideal for people with sensitive eyes and those that wear contacts. The area around your eye is most susceptible to wrinkling. Kiss Me is safer since it does not require harsh makeup removers or any rubbing around that sensitive part of your face. These unique patented features make Kiss Me a revelation for your makeup bag that will help keep you looking radiant and younger for longer."
Jen's Experience: You may recall that I've actually reviewed Blinc's Kiss Me Mascara previously. I've been using it off and on for the past year, sometimes alone, sometimes over their fabulous lash primer, and -- when I'm really trying to glam out -- over a super lengthening mascara such as Urban Decay Skyscraper. The previous Blinc mascara formula was great for work, but was less dramatic than others I've tried for a night out on the town.
Blinc's new formula is even better than their previous formula. The black is blacker; the fattening of the lashes is more noticable. And it's still the most wearable mascara that I have. I tend to rub my eyes a lot, especially when I sit in front of a computer all day. With Blinc's mascara, I can rub my eyes but the mascara doesn't budge. Yet, when I wash my face at night, the little tubes of mascara come right off onto my washcloth.
This is truly an innovation in mascara. Next time you hit Sephora, look for the new packaging in the metal magenta tube. I recommend this for anyone who has trouble wearing mascara, or anyone looking for a new every day mascara that looks great for work or the shopping mall.

Review: Brit Style Styling Paste by Graham Webb
What They Say: "There’s no better feeling than sun on your face and wind in your hair. Now you can ride with the top down minus the stress of mussing up your hairstyle. Graham Webb’s Brit Style Styling Paste is a unique product that allows your hair to reshape to its original look - even after cruising down the highway! Styling Paste contains an Advanced Pliable Resin System that styles and re-styles easily and lets you worry more about getting to the beach than getting to the mirror. “The best thing about Styling Paste is that it has incredible hold and shine, but doesn’t leave hair feeling greasy or stiff like a gel or a wax would. You don’t have to re-apply any product to get your original look, so hair stays touchable all day,” says Jarrod Harms, senior manager of education and training at Graham Webb International. "It also contains avocado oil that not only strengthens hair, but works as a natural sunscreen to protect hair from harmful summer rays."
Use a dab in damp, long hair before blow-drying for separation, shine, and hold. A simple raking of a brush or fingers gets hair back in control after a wild ride. If you want a beachy look, emulsify a dab between palms before scrunching into dry hair. You’ll get all the tousled texture any Betty should have. For short styles, go for a highly textured look by using just a little more. Use on either dry or damp hair."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: This scared me at first, because when you put it on your fingers it's incredibly thick and sticky-feeling. Almost glue-like. And you can't help but think to yourself, "...this is going to not create buildup on my hair HOW exactly?" Yet somehow, magically, it doesn't. I mean, it feels like you're really putting something heavy in your hair at first, but when you blowdry it's amazing how soft and pliable yet not "gunked up" your hair feels. It really is a nice way to maintain the look you want without crazy flyaways. I recently got a shorter, choppier haircut, and I like to add this to my hair on the ends after it's dry to add more texture, separation, and definition without adding tackiness. The key to adding it when your hair is dry is to go in TINY amounts at a time, because it can go a long way.
Overall, I was truly surprised by this product - in all the good ways.

Review: Vincent Longo Cream Concealer
What They Say: "Makeup artists call this product their secret weapon and the best choice to conceal just about anything - without looking heavy or greasy. This cream-formulated concealer comes in an easy to use pot and provides full coverage for undereye circles, blemishes, discoloration, and minor flaws. Blends with virtually any foundation to help achieve a flawless looking complexion."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: Aside from the M∙A∙C Studio Touchup Stick which I recently raved about, this concealer comes in extremely close at the very LEAST in terms of quality coverage, blendable texture, and near imperceptibility. There is almost no way for this moisture-rich formula to ever look cake-y or dry. It's definitely worth a try, as long as you've tested and found your perfect shade.
Retail Price: $26.50 (at Sephora.com - sorry UK readers, I couldn't find a resource for you nearby, but for all readers, the Vincent Longo website will go live this summer! Go here to sign up to be alerted when it is complete!)

Review: Bella il Fiore Pedicure Set
What They Say: "Everything you need for do it yourself well-groomed toes is in this super-sassy gift box. Pedicure set includes Bella nail polish in babydoll, foxy and top/base coat and pink flower toe-separators."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: I have to say, Bella definitely has their packaging DOWN. It's all so pretty and has such sweet details, you feel incredibly pampered just pulling out the products to use them. That aside, this little pedicure set has the basics all put together for you. Keep in mind, there are no tools in the kit, unless you consider the toe separators that is. You're really just looking at color and a base & top coat (which may not seem like much), but these are not only full-sized polishes, they are incredibly smooth, glossy formulas that suit your needs whether you want to go bold and bright (Foxy red) or neutral and pastel (Baby Doll barely-there pink). Then there's the clear formula, for base & top coats. Just make sure to let your color COMPLETELY dry before applying the top coat to ensure a smooth finish with no little bubbles.

Review: Nexxus Diametress Shampoo
What They Say: "Nexxus Diametress shampoo is enriched with Panthenol (Vitamin B-5), Proteins, and ionically charged NexxuSpheres® to build thickness and body into every strand. These remarkable ingredients combine to increase the diameter of the hairshaft, adding fullness to any hair type. Proteins and time-released Vegetable Ceramides give your hair strength and increased sheen. Expect sensational results even when used on baby fine, limp, or thin hair."
Jen's Experience: It seems like everywhere I go -- the drugstore, the grocery store, the mall -- I've been seeing Nexxus products. I'm not sure if the drugstores are supposed to be selling these products or if Nexxus has changed their direction to go more for mass-market retailers, but either way, I'm thankful, because without the extra exposure, I may never have tried this really fantastic shampoo.
I read that it was for fine or limp hair, and thought (sadly), "hey, that's me!" From day one, I love how much body it gives to my hair without drying it out or making it greasy. In fact, my hair looks good for a couple of days after I wash with this shampoo. Sometimes, I use conditioner with it (Aveda Sap Moss usually), but many times I simply spritz on some detangler when I get out of the shower. Either way, may hair is shiny and bouncy, and, well, healthy looking.
I usually steer clear of hair products I find in the drugstore, but this is one product that I am glad I tried!

What They Say: "For spot-on camouflage: a sleek pencil-tipped concealer blending creamy formula and medium coverage with on-the-go portability. Applies precisely: blends away spots and blemishes in a flash."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: Say HELLO to your new Magic Wand. This soft, creamy pencil blends invisibly, never cakes or settles into fine lines (works GREAT for undereye area as well as redness and splotchiness), and is my new personal must-have. Review: Back to Basics Pomegranate Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner
What They Say: "Senses are indulged as hair is treated to a beneficial blend proven to restore hair's moisture balance. Gentle cleansers and detangling conditioners hydrate and smooth for soft, silky, shiny hair.
• Tames split ends and static indicative of dry hair.
• Increases flexibility of dehydrated hair resulting in responsive styling.
• Naturally derived surfactants carefully remove impurities with a sensuous, billowy lather.
• Color safe formula is gentle for all color treated hair."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: If the incredible scent (fresh, light, and luscious) doesn't get you interested in this shampoo and conditioner, then perhaps the fact that hair is transformed into strong, soft, and shiny locks WILL. The shampoo is clear and very gentle (my color has not faded while using it), and the conditioner creates a softness not often achieved with anything less than a deep conditioner. This has by far been my favorite cleansing and conditioning duo recently.
These formulas are specifically made for normal to dry hair. If you have a problem with oiliness, you may need to try a more specifically-engineered formula for your hair type. However, if you DO purchase these two, it is always best to get them at an actual salon to ensure you are getting the highest quality product.

Review: Lancôme Magique Matte Soft-Matte Perfecting Mousse Makeup
What They Say: "The next generation of makeup from Lancôme. Mousse to soft matte makeup for smooth, even toned skin - Magique Matte features a breakthrough mousse texture that applies like a foundation with the finish of a velvety powder. The air-whipped formula with Spherelight™ micropowders glides on smoothly. Innovative technology evens skin tone and blends away imperfections. This ‘never flat matte’ makeup offers buildable, moderate to full coverage that stays fresh all day. Available in 12 shades, the diverse shade range has all skin tones covered.
* Please note: Magique Matte is for all skin types except very dry skin."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: The incredibly soft mousse was my first indication that this was a truly different type of foundation. I was suspicious that its light-as-air texture would mean less-than-ample coverage, but that wasn't the case. While the foundation was amazingly light and non-caking, it still evened out my skin tone and gave a radiant finish. And staying power? I didn't even feel a need to blot any shine throughout the day and looked just as polished after hours as I did immediately after applying. Yet I never felt like my skin wasn't still showing through.
I do completely agree with the fact that this could work for almost any skin type except for extremely dry. Any dry patchy parts of the face would be emphasized with this formula. And remember to be sparing when you apply - you'd be suprised how far this stuff goes. And as always, your happiness with this product is all in selecting the correct shade. If you can get to an actual retail location, that would be best.

Review: Privé Finishing Texture Spray (Herbal Blend #89)
What They Say: "Unlike hairspray, this lightweight product can be used before and after heat, giving increased flexibility, as well as providing non-tacky, silky control without falling limp. It can also be used as thermal straightener, as its styling memory is enhanced with heat styling tools. Natural ingredients such as betula alba leaf extract, gingko biloba leaf extract and echinacea purpurea root extract offer:
• Glycolic extracts that freshen, rejuvenate and moisturize hair
• Antioxidants and oxygenation that protect and rejuvenate hair
• Antiseptic qualities that promote hair and scalp health
• Defrizzing agents that add smoothness
• Vitamins that protect and maintain natural shine
• Protection from environmental stress
Styling Tips
• Use hot rollers to activate the setting agent’s heat memory for an amplified style. Pin curls will also give your waves a little bump and bounce without being too “big.”
•Rework second-day styles by utilizing the spray to revitalize yesterday’s look without product build-up.
•Apply again later in the day to reduce frizz."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: I've been totally and completely pleased with this product. I usually like to to use it on my hair after it's dry, and when I do I make sure to spray mostly away from the roots and more into the body of the hair. However, I haven't noticed any oiliness as a result of using it so if you want a bit more volume and manageability there you shouldn't be too afraid to do that. I get INSTANT volume and texture without heavy weight which is fabulous. It also helps your hair hold a style without the stickiness or crunch of hairspray. Hair is still touchable! I highly recommend giving this a try.
Purchase proceeds in 2006 go toward the fight against Breast Cancer!
"Trends depart just as quickly as they appear, but one thing that never goes out of style is contributing to the fight against breast cancer. That’s why Privé founder, Laurent D., will introduce one new product a year that will donate a portion of proceeds to the Expedition Inspiration Fund for Breast Cancer Research, the favorite charity of his long-time friend and client, Téa Leoni. And since soft lustrous waves have some major staying power, Privé Formule aux Herbes has launched Finishing Texture Spray to give to the cause in 2006. This fibrous texturizing styling product infuses a low luster shine and smoothness, while adding incredible volume and substance to hair minus the added weight or stickiness of sprays and gels. “Our efforts to raise $25,000 on behalf of Expedition Inspiration last year were so incredibly rewarding that we knew our work couldn’t end there,” said Laurent D. “To show our continuous dedication to Expedition Inspiration, we have decided to launch a new product each year that will help to fund research for this terrible epidemic.”

Guest Review: Halo Curl Shampoo & Conditioner and Curl-Enhancing Crème
Jeannette has always struggled with finding products that can help her feel in control of her natural curls, which are not super-tight spirals, but more difficult-to-style waves and flips with frizzy tendencies. So we asked her to try this line by Halo to find out if it is a curly-haired girl's dream come true.
What They Say
(about the shampoo): "Mild cleansing and foaming ingredients gently cleanse without robbing hair of vital moisture. Panthenol prevents thermal damage to scalp and hair, while promoting body and moisture. Jojoba conditions and moisturizes for intesified body and spring. Wheat proteins subdue static and frizz. Improves combability of curly hair. Humectants help curls retain moisture and spring."
(about the conditioner): "Protective, shielding forming agents surround each hair shaft for increased combability and silky feel. Lightweight silicones deliver a soft, sleek feel without buildup. Wheat proteins condition and reduce static. Softens and unties tangles in rough, curly hair."
(about the curling crème): "Sensual emollients assist with softness and in reducing flyaways. Jojoba proteins condition hair with added moisture leaving hair with improved body, shine and feel. Humectants attract added moisture to promote additional and even curl formation. Silky texture slips through damp hair for quick, easy distribution in salon and at home."
Jeanette's Reviews
(about the shampoo): It cleanses gently and is moisturizing, also the hair shaft seemed to feel stronger after using it. I truly feel it saved my hair from breakage when our water softener went out and our water was terrible. In the past, I've had to get my hair trimmed to take off the damage when dealing with hard water. However, while using this shampoo I felt like my hair stayed healthy and strong which was a hugely noticeable benefit.
(about the conditioner): This conditioner is really nice, however my hair is fine and curly, so less was the key here. While it didn't weigh my hair down, if I used more than a tiny bit my hair was actually TOO soft to manage. If you have more coarse hair, this conditioner may be something that really helps you with your hair texture.
(about the curling crème): This product greatly reduced flyaways for me, which has ALWAYS been an issue. This actually is the first product I've ever used that made that much of a difference. I still felt that less was best for my fine hair.
Overall, I think these products are worth the investment because of how much healthier my hair has become while using it. For those with very thick, coarse hair it should work well, too. If you have fine curly hair like myself, just be careful about the amount of conditioner or curling crème you use. I used this while styling my hair curly as well as straightened with a flat iron, and the most significant benefit no matter what the style method was the reduction of flyaways and increased strength.
Retail Prices: Shampoo & Conditioner $16/each, Curling Crème $18 (the complete Halo Curl collection is available exclusively through premier salons and distributors across the Unites States and Canada. Review: Bibo Full Effect Mascara
What They Say: "Enhance lashes in every way with this new, all-in-one formula. It curls, lengthens, thickens and defines with no smudging, no clumping.
* Panthenol thickens & lenghthens lashes.
* Vitamin A and wheat proteins moisturize and condition.
* Building mascara allows for a natural to more intense application."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: This is a nice-sized mascara with a super-sleek casing. But how does it WEAR? Although it doesn't claim to be waterproof, it stays very well with virtually NO clumping or smudging. It also gives a slight curl to the lashes. It goes on incredibly evenly with no clumping as well. As far as the thickening and lengthening? This formula DEFINITELY adds believable length which is buildable, and it also adds volume to the lashes with incredible separation. As far as I'm concerned? A practically perfect mascara.
Retail Price: $14.00 ( Bibo Full Effect™

LaLicious Coconut Cream Body Sugar Souffle Scrub
What They Say: "Warning - these scrubs are highly addictive and moisturizing, your shower will never be the same again!
We use only the finest ingredients and whip them together to create the ultimate sugar scrub! Fluffy and easy to apply, our Sugar Soufflés are made with coconut oil, which absorbs quickly and easily, leaving your skin moisturized and protected, without feeling greasy. Pure cane sugar crystals exfoliate dead skin cells while coconut oil, sweet almond and vitamin-e oils condition, moisturize and smooth you to perfection!
This is a highly moisturizing product that can be used in the bath or shower. The oils will literally melt into your skin as you exfoliate. We recommend this being the last thing you do, after you wash your body and hair, to get the full benefits.
We guarantee that if you use our scrubs you will never need to put lotion on after you get out of the shower! Enjoy!"
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: I am not going to beat around the bush here. This scrub is simply incredible. The super-soft consistency makes it feel truly decadent. Well, that and the luscious scent, which left me saying "No seriously - I smell SO good!" the entire day, testing my husband's limited tolerance levels. But he agreed - and was as pleased as I was with the incredibly soft skin that resulted. I didn't feel that this scrub left me feeling as "oily" as some moisturizing scrubs do afterward, either.

Shu Uemura Fiber Extension Mascara
What They Say: "Instant lash extensions. Shu Uemura's latest mascara was designed using a unique technology combining silky-smooth building fibers and long extending fibers - that instantly create uniform, volumized long lashes. The patented, triple stroke brush fits perfectly to lash line, delivering formula to each individual lash. With a single stroke, lashes are coated evenly, effortlessly, with a professional touch. Smudge proof, water-resistant, long-wearing."
Jen's Experience: I realized recently that you hadn't heard much from me in the way of my search for the perfect mascara. I've been awfully happy with my Blinc Kiss Me Mascara, and when I need more oomph, I've been layering Blinc's Lash Primer, a couple coats of Urban Decay Skyscraper, and then topping it all off with the Kiss Me Mascara for the deep color and to keep it in place.
I've been hearing good things about Shu Uemura, especially their false lashes, which I've been too chicken to try. But I am absoluely thrilled that I decided to try this product. It does a great job of coating my lashes. It doesn't clump, even when I put on tons of layers. The extension part is real -- I am very conscious of my eyelashes hitting my sunglasses when I am leaving the house. But most importantly for me, it actually lasts all day long without leaving me looking like a football player. Amazingly, when I try to take it off at night, it comes off pretty easily with water and a washcloth.
I'm not saying the search is over, but this mascara is definitely a candidate for the perfect mascara.

Bella Il Fiore "Pretty in Paris" Face Palette
What They Say: "Bella's fabulous face palettes offer eight complimenting shades for the worldly girl-on-the-go. Available in three flattering looks. Featured Here: Pretty in Paris - A palette of pretty pinks and perfectly complementing colors."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: First of all, can I start with the packaging? These palettes come like CD cases, which flip open to reveal large mirrors and high-quality applicators (sturdy dual-ended shadow sponge applicator and dual-ended easy-to-handle lip brush) for sufficiently-sized squares of color. The Pretty in Paris palette colors include a peachy-pink blush, 4 shadows (a pale champagne pink, a creamy bisque, an almost-black, and a rich but soft mauve), and 3 ever-so-slightly shimmery glosses (very pale pink, a luscious darker pink, and glowing clear).
I absolutely fell in love with the incredibly soft powder-formulas of the blush and shadows; they blend nicely and the shadows have just the right amount of glow to them to help create a gorgeous eye. The gloss feels very soft and non-sticky, while having fairly nice staying power.
I was really pleased with this mix of colors and the quality of the products. If you haven't tried anything from the Bella line yet, perhaps this would be a good introduction (and a nice addition to your new spring finds!).

Maybelline Forever Strong + Iron Nail Color
What They Say:
- Longwearing, strengthening nail enamel that delivers rich color and high shine
- Fortified with a unique iron-hard complex plus conditioning agents to help strengthen nails
- "Flexes" with the nail for outstanding durability and wear
Jen's Experience: One last way to get extra color in your fall and winter wardrobe is through nail color. Now, this wasn't exactly an original color that I picked out; the last 3 nail polishes I bought are within a hue of this one, Berry Persistent. But the most outstanding part of this nailpolish is how amazingly close it comes to the ever-popular "I'm Not Really a Waitress" color from OPI both in color and quality. I'm using this on my toes, so it will definitely last longer than it will on my fingernails, but I love the way it applies smoothly and dries quickly (but not so quickly you can't fix mistakes). The total drying time with a basecoat and topcoat was only about 15 minutes. And the final result? Looks like the finish of my car. Pretty good for an at-home pedicure.

M·A·C Velvet Finish Eyeshadow in Slip Pink
![]()
What They Say: (about all of their shadows) "Highly-pigmented powder. Applies evenly, blends well." (about the Velvent finish shadow) "Soft look finish with high-colour intensity. Has a plush velvety look and feel."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: (Click pic to see shade in greater detail.) This is an extremely soft shadow, perfect for blending and creating a smooth look. It has good staying power as well. In particular, this shade (Slip Pink) is an almost universally-flattering pink with the tiny hints of sparkle appropriate for women of any age and would be a practical addition to your springtime makeup bag. At post time, this shade is actually sold out on M·A·C's website. (Update: Thanks to the reader who alerted us that this is a limited edition shade, so you may have a difficult time locating it!) But go there if you'd like to see other shadow shades, or simply go here to find a retail location near you.

Laura Mercier Eye Color
I went to the Laura Mercier counter looking for some new eyeshadow colors, but came away with a modern take on some classic colors. With a fair complexion and blue eyes, I've been enjoying the brighter pastel colors that have been popular this season. But what to wear with the new khakis and trenchcoats that I've been seeing for Spring?
Laura Mercier's Metallic Creme Eye Color ($22.00) is the start to this totally modern neutral palette. Metallics are very trendy right now, and these eye creams will help give your eyes dimension without being overly shiny. Platinum is my base color for most occasions. It's a slightly pink-y beige color that helps to even out the darkness in my eye and give the main eyeshadow colors a base to really make them stand out when I apply it to the entire eye area all the way up to my eyebrow. For evening, their titanium looks great with or without another eyeshadow color. Cream eye shadows often don't last throughout the day, but applying on top of a foundation base and really setting it with powder make Laura Mercier's eye cream from morning throughout the day flawlessly.
Over top of the cream eyeshadow, I have two Laura Mercier Shimmer Eye Colours in Sable and Star Fruit ($20.00/ea). I apply the Sable (much darker than it appears on their site) on the area of my lower lids. I use my eyeshadow brush to bring the color above the crease on the outer edges of my eye. Finally, I take a little of the Star Fruit and put it on the apple of my eye lid, just for a little extra dimension.
You can easily bring this look into the evening by taking some dark grey eyeshadow, such as Laura Mercier's in Black Smoke and use it to line the edges of the eye on the top and bottom lashes in a very thin line. Then, blend the line you've created on the top lids upwards to create a smokey effect that is understated and elegant.
Not only am I in love with the colors, they're clearly high-quality products. The texture is very creamy. They apply easily and without creasing. Plus, they last throughout the day. These Laura Mercier eye colors are my best make-up purchase in quite a while.

Spongeables Bodywash Infused Sponge
What They Say: "The NEW way of showering and bathing. For the first time ever, you can exfoliate, massage, cleanse and moisturize your skin with a single product and BE ABLE TO USE IT AGAIN AND AGAIN FOR many showers. Using patent-pending technology, SPONGEABLES™ infuses natural glycerin and olive oil-based soap into a hypoallergenic sponge for rich, creamy, long-lasting lather. Spongeables™ lathers and rinses clean in both hard and soft water! Shower with it at home and escape to your own private heaven."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: This sponge arrived to me in Peony-Cassis Infusion scent. It was a little overwhelming in the package - not unpleasant at all, just surprising in strength. In the bath, you soak the sponge to let it absorb the water before using it. The scent creates a wonderful energizing feeling, and the sponge is slightly exfoliating as well. The scent lingers on your skin delicately afterward for quite a while, and I kept saying "Honey, seriously, come smell me!" The bodywash does last in the sponge a long time as well. This is a really nice way to make the bath or shower routine more enjoyable.

Tarte "Miss Fix-It" Spring 2006
I have a soft spot in my heart for Tarte, with its ingeniously lovely packaging and creative naming of its products, as well as its typically high-quality cosmetics. The "Miss Fix-It" line for Spring 2006 is no exception. Check out what Tarte has added to its long line of fabulous products. Want something fun and girly to add some "spring" to your beauty routine? Let me introduce you...
Trifold Eye/Lip Compact ($44): "That cool scarf? She knitted it herself. The to-die-for rhinestone encrusted phone? Oh, just a side project. Jewelry making, sewing, cake decorating…this girl can do it all. Let your creativity run as wild as hers does with this playful palette full of candy-colored combinations for eyes & lips.
Shades include: shimmery champagne eyeshadow, shimmery purple eyeshadow, shimmery teal eyeshadow, matte bright turquoise eyeshadow, shimmery pink & shimmery lilac lip glosses, shimmery gold highlighter."
Melissa Says: What a useful AND lovely compact. The gloses are very sheer but beautifully shiny. The shadows are FUN but wearable. (Plus, Tarte's shadows are very silky and long-wearing.) There are two high-quality sponge applicators included as well. This would be a wonderful way to add some color and a touch of glow to your look in a purse-friendly compact.
Picture Perfect Eyelash Curler $15: "Smile and say “squeeze!” With this lash curler, getting a picture perfect curl is a snap. For a match made in Hollywood, use with Lights, Camera, Lashes! 3-in-1 mascara."
Melissa Says: This curler is spring-hinged, which helps create a tighter grip on your lashes. Fabulous.
The Toolbox: Brow Know-How $32: "Construct a picture-perfect brow in minutes using these easy tools:
1. “Prep the work zone” by tweezing any stray hairs
2. “Lay down the foundation” using the smooth brow wax
3. “Fill in the cracks” with your shade-specific brow powder or brow pencil.
4. “Seal the deal” with a glossy topcoat of brow gel.
No hard hat required.
Kit includes: brow gel, brow pencil, tweezer, brow brush, brow powder, brow wax, and 3 brow stencils, plus a compact with a mirror!
Three universal shades:
light: for blonde to light brown hair
medium: for medium brown to red hair,
dark: for dark brown to black hair"
*I didn't get an opportunity to review this item in the "Miss Fix-It" line, but I can't wait to give it a try. The well-groomed brow trend is not going away anytime soon!
Little Blot Book Shine Control to Go $32 (coming soon!): "Shine control to go! Oil: it’s a girl’s dirtiest little secret. No one wants to get caught with even the teensiest hint of a sheen (or worse, all-out shine).
The solution? Hiding the evidence, of course. Little blot book gives you two ways to send shine undercover: First, use the (tiny) blotting sheets for quick touch-ups then dust on mattifying powder* to tone down future glare. And no need to worry about being obvious…with a compact this inconspicuous, your secret will always be safely stashed away.
*mattifying powder contains Vitamin E & Vitamin A, some of the most effective antioxidants to prevent premature signs of again. Also includes green tea, aloe, & chamomile to soothe and nourish you skin."
Melissa Says: Wow. This is perhaps one of the most fun items in this line. The "book" is substantial but should fit into most purses. The brush applicator for the mattifying powder is incredibly soft, and the powder itself cuts down shine without that nasty pale-powdered look. It's completely invisible on your skin. And the tiny blotting papers hiding behind the brush pop up like little post-its and are wonderful for on-the-go quick fixes. Of course, there is a large mirror inside the compact as well. I have a feeling this little book and I will become very good friends.
Cloud Nine Cheekstain (NEW SHADE!) $28: "Our most popular product! This water-based push up gel stick is perfect for all skin types. No skill required - just dab it on and go. Wear it over or under foundation, with or without powder blush - it lasts all day. There’s no oil, so it won’t clog your pores. Still not convinced? We’ve been awarded “best blush” in InStyle, Cosmo & Self."
Melissa Says: I've never tried one of Tarte's famous cheekstains before. I must say, I've always shied away from any liquid or cream blush because I always felt that it looked bad on my skin. This unbelievably sheer formula really surprised me. It's easy to apply, smells like a lollipop or kool-aid (really!) and stays pretty all day. Personally, this shade might have been just a TAD too light for me, as I usually feel really pale and want a little more color. (I wouldn't hesitate to try another shade, though.) But it's very beautiful and natural, and your face doesn't get slick and greasy-looking with this formula. I use this when I just want a little bit of glow around the house, but then use it as a base for a little swipe of powder blush to go out (it actually helps powder blush stay on, too!).
Ferris & Sloane Double Ended Lipgloss (NEW SHADE!) $19: "Our lipglosses are back with brand-new components! You can even snap each gloss in and out so you can mix and match, or just take one half with you. Our new and improved double-ended lipglosses are available in our 15 original shades, plus six new duos.
Note: Our new shades: "ronald & cindy" and "lloyd & diane" are coming soon!"
Melissa Says: I've reviewed Tarte's double-ended gloss before, and these two shades are very light and sheer, with great staying power and shine.
Mona Lisa Eyeliner (NEW SHADE!) $18: "Think of your eyes as an artist's dream...the ultimate blank canvas. With our eyeliners in your hand, the possibilities are endless. Our super-creamy formula lets you smudge, shade and blend your way to a masterpiece (no MFA required)."
Melissa Says: I have green eyes, so I always hesitate to try any liner in any green, but this lovely teal-green actually makes my eyes stand out and look wide awake.

Archipelago Botanicals Mint Shampoo and Conditioner
About the Shampoo: "Morning Mint Shampoo contains fresh Mint, Wheat and Milk Proteins, and Vitamin E to leave hair clean, shiny, and manageable."
About the conditioner: "Morning Mint Conditioner contains fresh Mint, Wheat and Milk Proteins, and Vitamin E to leave hair silky smooth and managable. This gentle conditioner is excellent for dry and/or chemically treated hair."
Jen's Experience: Generally, I'm a shampoo and conditioner snob. My hair is super picky, and wilts or gets oily if I choose the wrong product. I have liked everything I've ever purchased from Archipelago Botanicals, so I thought I was safe with this pair. Turns out I was right!
If you're thinking this is a total rip-off of Aveda's Rosemary Mint, you're probably right when it comes to the scent. I have had a bit of a problem in the past with Aveda's product stripping my hair though, and I definitely haven't experienced that problem with this shampoo and conditioner. My hair is shiny and full of body, even on day 2. I love the way it really lathers, and the yummy smell makes me not want to rinse it away. I think, especially for the price, that is is a hard product to beat, and one I would definitely recommend.

Revlon Colorstay Makeup with SoftFlex for Combination/Oily Skin
What They Say: "Tired of makeups that are heavy and tight? Revlon introduces the next generation from the #1 long wear brand, new ColorStay® Makeup with SoftFlexTM . Patented SoftFlexTM provides lightweight comfort, so you feel like you’re not wearing makeup. Exclusive ColorStay® "won’t rub off" formula gives you the same flawless looking skin, but now your makeup looks fresh and feels great for up to 16 hours. Specially formulated for combination or oily skin, this oil-free formula helps control shine. Medium to full coverage in 20 luxurious shades, with SPF 6 protection*.
*Except for Golden, Caramel, Toast, Rich Ginger, Cappuccino, Mahogany, and Mocha, which contain no SPF."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: Okay, what is this SoftFlex thing? And why does it feel so good? I don't know, but I can tell you that you will feel like you are wearing absolutely nothing with this foundation. It's incredibly light upon application and blends immediately into the skin (use Revlon's shade chooser at the display in the store to help you pick one that matches your skin tone - for me it's Natural Beige. You can also see the shades here.) The formula gives a nice medium coverage, enough to diminish redness or unevenness but that still lets your skin show through. This particular formula (they also have it for Normal/Dry skin) helps control oil without that dry, dull look that many combo skin foundations give you. And it does maintain it's fresh look for hours. I also haven't noticed any irritation while using it.

L'Oreal Feria Hair Color in Champagne Blonde
What They Say: "Discover colour that speaks to you. So pure and vocal and multi-faceted, it transforms every strand with triple highlights - for even more shimmering highs and lows. Definitely the end of flat, matte colour. Even the conditioner glistens hair with a new pure-shimmer concentrate. So express yourself ... one shimmering shade at a time."
Jen's Experience: I am very picky about my hair. I used to color it myself all the time, and then a friend of fine introduced me to a fabulous colorist in Atlanta that I used for years. I moved away and don't see the same colorist anymore, but I do love my colorist now, and have a hard time not going to see her and using up all my spending money on some terrific highlights.
On the other hand, highlights are pretty expensive, and I don't get to test out new products. So I've decided to expand my horizons and try the home coloring experience again for myself.
I purchased the Feria kit at Target after reading the back of every single hair color box in the store and changing my mind about the level of blondeness about every five minutes. I looked at the highlighting kits, such as the Couleur Experte that Melissa covered previously, but those seemed very complicated and I just wasn't sure I'd be able to make it look as good as it did on the box.
The Feria box claimed to give you multi-tonal color and shimmeriness, but the directions seemed simple -- no highlighting brushes required. Clearly this was the winner.
I took it home to kick off a spa night one weekend. I should be a good role model and say I did the allergy test and the color test before I started, but really, I just ripped open the box and started working.
Within an hour, I was blow-drying my hair with my new color. When I looked at myself in the mirror, I was caught a little off guard. I normally keep my hair a lighter shade, but clearly this shade is better for my skintone. My eyes became brighter and my skin looks tanner. My hair was super soft and shiny, and shimmery like the box said it would be. Even better, it really is somewhat multi-tonal. I'm not sure if the color is just accenting my previous highlights or if this is straight out of the box, but I do seem to have some variation of color throughout my hair, and it looks really natural.
I so dearly love my colorist, but with results like these, she might be seeing me much less often.
Tips and Tricks: I have a problem coloring the back of my hair thoroughly, which is a major problem because my roots are so dark. This time, I used clips just like my hairstylist does to break it into small sections. I'm not sure if it helped me to see better or if it just helped me focus, but I got everything covered in the back this time.

Archipelago Botanicals Sugar Lip Gloss
What They Say: "Sugar Lip Gloss leaves lips hydrated, shiny and smooth."
Jen's Experience: Archipelago's description is short and sweet, but right on the money. I love to use lip glosses -- by themselves or on top of lip color -- but I always find that they leave my lips dry and in much worse condition than when I started. This lip gloss is almost like a balm in comparison with the other products I use. Not because its thick and medicated (in fact, its texture is closer to Mac Lipglass) but because of the remarkable condition it leaves my lips in. Even if I just slather it on once a day, my lips stay hydrated for hours, not aching for another fix. And they really are smoother; I don't have any more excuses for picking at my lips. And the taste is one of the best I've ever come across in a lip gloss, very sugary just like you'd expect. This stuff is hard to find (I stumbled across mine at a local gift store during my after-Christmas shopping), so if you see it when you're shopping, be sure to snap it up!

Bourjois Liquid Liner
What They Say: "Each of these easy-to-handle liquid liners has a fine, flexible brush for precise application, and a rich, creamy formula that dries fast, and stays put."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: A few months ago, when my mom said she was looking for a really fine and pretty liquid blue eyeliner, this is what I picked out in Sephora for her. And when I saw how well it stayed put and the color range, I of course put some on my wish list for Christmas. My mom returned the favor and got me the Prune Styliste 24 and Vert Esquisse 27 shades (a lovely purple and a nice hazel-y green). I have worn both already and am so pleased with the ability to have a super-fine line or to build up to a thicker one. And this really does stay well, especially on the upper lid. I got many compliments on the purple one when I went out last week.
For the shade selection alone, much less the long wear, I would recommend this even for those wary of liquid liners.

Bibo's Got You Covered for Winter Skin Care
Amazing Grapes Moisturizer and Positive Outlook Eye Renewal Cream
"These two products are phenomenal! I am constantly using them on the set and continue to be impressed with the results," says Sharin Helgestad, who uses the combo on celebrities like Molly Sims, Vanessa Marcil, and Nikki Cox on the show "Las Vegas".
..."The great thing about both Amazing Grapes and Positive Outlook is that together they act as a preventive as well as reparative agents," says Helgestad. Amazing Grapes prevents negative sunlight exposure while repairing damaged cells and Positive Outlook reduces fine lines and repairs skin's surface.
Bibo's Amazing Grapes Green Grape Oil-Free Moisturizer for Normal to Oily Skin SPF 15
What They Say: "Refine and de-shine skin with this lightweight, oil-free moisturizer that performs an amazing balancing act. Green grape promotes cell health and repair, and works with SPF 15 to prevent future damage. Skin looks fresh and healthy, feels soft and smooth."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: I've been using this as my morning moisturizer for a while now, and I can't say I'm anything but impressed! First of all, the fresh scent is energizing, and the light, non-greasy lotion soaks right into my skin and helps it feel soft and calmed. I feel like my face is parched without it.
Retail Price: $11.50 (go to bibocosmetics.com to find a salon or Beauty Brands location near you that sells Bibo products)

Bibo Positive Outlook Guava Enriched eye Renewal Cream
What They Say: "Renew the delicate skin around your eyes with this gentle all-in-one eye cream. Intensely moisturizing guava helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and dark circles, soothe puffiness and promote firmer looking skin. Eyes will look bright and fresh, skin will be soft and smooth."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: This cream truly is revitalizing. With its crisp but subtle fruit scent and its ever-so-slight brightening sheen, you get an immediate eye boost. You'll also feel a subtle firming of the eye area when it is applied. I like to use this as a morning eye cream mostly, because it's not heavy at all and is great for under makeup. One tiny drawback - make sure to carefully apply evenly, or you could get a bit of excess sheen under your eye after the product has soaked into your skin.

Bath and Body Works Holiday Sweets Collection
What They Say: "A deliciously pampering gift for those on the go, this collection has 3 bottles of our luxurious 3-in-1 body washes, bubble baths and shampoos in 6 oz. bottles. This year's three delicious holiday fragrances include Hot Chocolate, Egg Nog and Gingerbread."
Jen's Experience: I too doubted that any product could serve as a body wash, bubble bath, and shampoo. I mean, sure, I've used my shampoo as soap in a pinch, but I've never trusted a product like this with my poor, delicate hair. Well, I was curious, so I bought myself a little early gift.
I started out using these as bubble bath, and this doesn't disappoint. All smell fantastic, particularly the eggnog and gingerbread and they produce a lot of bubbles (as would be expected with a bubble bath, but sadly so often doesn't happen).
In the shower, I've been using the gingerbread regularly as a body wash and as my primary shampoo for a while now. As a body wash, it lathers well, smells great, and didn't make me break out, so it certainly passes that test.
But the real test was its ability to function as a shampoo. I am happy to say, it actually works quite well. My hair feel clean and stays looking great for about 2 days. It seems that it also includes some conditioning elements as well, because I have not found the need to use a conditioner every time I use this product. Sometimes I use a detangler when I get out of the shower, sometimes I go without altogether. With my fine hair that wants to tangle into an impenetrable ball if I look at it funny, that's a pretty miraculous thing. And as an added bonus, my hair smells like gingerbread all day.
Overall, I am completely surprised and pleased with how well this products work. This is something you may want to pick up for yourself, but the collection of all three scents would make a fabulous present for someone on your holiday shopping list. Either way, pick some up and enjoy!

Malin + Goetz Facial Moisturizer
What They Say: "Our oil-free, residue-free moisturizer scientifically synthesizes natural vitamins E and B5 and soothing chamomile with absorbent fatty acids. Gently and effectively hydrates and ph balances all skin types, unlike traditionally greasy pore-clogging oils, for an intensely nourishing treatment, reducing epidermal irritation for the most sensitive of skin. Perfect foundation for immediate make-up application. Natural fragrance and color. Easily integrated into daily maintenance and prevention regimen."
Jen's Experience: With winter on its way, normally I have to go for the really super-thick moisturizers so that I don't get skin that's downright flaky and scaly. When I first started using this face moisturizer, I didn't think it would hold up to my winter needs. It's creamy, but it's thin enough that I only have to use a bit to cover my entire face and neck instead of half the container. My face feels like it can breathe when I am wearing it, instead of feeling smothered under layers and layers of moisturizer. And amazingly, even though the air is cold and dry, my face stays moisturized from morning to night.
I love the way this moisturizer feels on my face, I love the way my make-up glides on when I'm wearing it, and I really love that my face has been clearer and more radiant since I've been using this in my daily routine. In short, Malin + Goetz's Facial Moisturizer is a tremendous find.

Have a holiday party to look smashing for? Luscious lips are a great start! Don't forget to check out our DeLush Holiday Gift Guides every day next week starting Monday, December 5 with great ideas for yourself, your Guy, your mom, grandma and your sister/best friend!
What They Say: "Breaking up’s not hard to do when you have a gloss that splits in two!
Finally…a gloss you won’t want to kiss off. Introducing supergloss, our new long-lasting (but not at all sticky) formula in brand new components that split up just like the couples they’re named after."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: Okay, I feel like a complete dork now. I just realized that these glosses (which come with 2 ends of great color) are switch-able! I actually love the way Tarte matches the colors to begin with, but now that I know I can move them around, I can have even more fun with them! These glosses are generously-sized, have a hint of sweetness, and give gorgeous colorful shine. In shades that go from clear to sheer to shimmery, there's lots to layer or wear alone for fabulous lips this season!

Smashbox Single Eye Shadow
What They Say: "These of-the-moment shades are dreamed up on the sets of top photo shoots and can be mixed or matched to create your favorite color combinations. The long-lasting formula glides on easily with superb blendability. Available in three great formulas: matte, shimmer and sparkle."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: This is the softest, creamiest powder eyeshadow I've ever come across. It actually shocked me. I keep making people feel it..."You'll never believe this. You HAVE to touch it. See?!? See how soft it is?"
I got a matte shade, Smashing Flat Screen. You can just imagine how fabulously it goes onto the eyelid with that soft texture. And the end result when applied is smooth and gorgeous - very blendable as well. I noticed just a tiny bit of creasing at the end of the day (which could have probably been avoided with base), but I still consider this one of my "luxury" shadows.

Maybelline Full 'n Soft Mascara - Waterproof in Very Black
What They Say:"
* For full, soft, thick healthy-looking lashes without the brittle feel
* Prevents loss of lashes with patented Quick Dissolve System which allows easy mascara removal
* Won't run, smear or smudge
* No clumps, no globs
* Contact lens safe and hypoallergenic
* Available in Washable, Waterproof and Curved Brush"
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: Okay, I know I've referred to this mascara before, as it is only my most trusted beauty product so far. I can't believe I haven't shared it with you yet! I've used this loyally for a few years now, though once in a while I switch it up for variety's sake and to try new things - but this is my GO-TO mascara when I just want to apply it quick and KNOW it will work.
I've gotten compliments on my lashes from department store makeup salesgirls, an esthetician at a spa giving me a facial who said she couldn't believe that it wouldn't budge after she had that hot towel sitting on my face, and others.
This mascara doesn't flake, clump, or smear. It builds fabulously for volume and doesn't get all hard and nasty-feeling when I apply my typical 3 or so coats (heh-heh). It looks soft and pretty. I love it. LOVE. Whenever people tell me "wow, you're lashes are so pretty!", I say "it's the mascara!". Really, anyone can have pretty lashes with this stuff.

Paul Brown Hawaii Treat Elite Spray On Conditioner
What They Say: "Treat Elite is an instant detangler, a light conditioner, and a finishing rinse. It may be left in the hair for maximum benefits or rinsed off fine limp hair.
Conditioning with Treat Elite enable you to obtain excellent styling performance and flexibility by closing the cuticle layer and eliminating static electricity. Ideal for dry ends."
Jen's Experience: When the air turns cold and dry, it's not just my skin that suffers from dryness. My hair also tends to lose its luster and tangle easily unless I really pamper it. So when my hairstylist recommended Paul Brown's leave in conditioner to help with my dry hair, I decided to take her suggestion.
I was worried that this product would weigh down my fine hair, but it turns out to work exactly as described. As soon as I get out of the shower (after shampooing and conditioning as usual), I spray this on the ends of my hair and comb it through. It moisturizes my hair just enough to prevent tangling and damage from my hair dryer, but as long as I continue to use volumizer on the roots, I don't lose the body in my hair even when I don't wash it every day. My hair is ultra-shiny and healthy looking. And a bonus? This conditioner has an absolutely wonderful tropical aroma. The scent won't linger in your hair, but when you're blow-drying, it just smells delicious.
If your hair suffers in winter-time like mine, I highly recommend this addition to your arsenal of hair products.

Shiseido The Makeup - Sheer Gloss Lipstick
What They Say: "It is lustrous, semi-translucent and delicate in color, but this lipstick stays put, and gives even color to the entire lips. Made with skin-caring ingredients to make lips supple."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: I know, I've said I like being able to wear more matte lipstick when the weather turns cooler, but I fell absolutely in love with this certain color in Sephora (Honey Tea) and couldn't help myself. (Even if I DO have entirely too many lipsticks, lip glosses, and lip balms to be considered decent.) Actually, there were a few colors I was heavily debating between, as Shiseido's gorgeous color range and finish typically tends to be well-worth the somewhat higher price.
The day I bought this, I went to a party and the topic turned to makeup (hey, I can't help it!) and I showed the girls what I'd gotten that day. They all liked this lipstick's texture and amazing color quality. While it is somewhat sheer, it is still substantial as they claim and stays wonderfully. The pigment is concentrated and true, and it isn't too slick or shiny for those that prefer lipstick over gloss.

Fresh Orange-Chocolate Shea Butter
What They Say: "Fleur de Chocolat Orange-Chocolate Shea Butter is a sensual body moisturizer. It can be used on the face, body, and hair or as a rich lip treatment. Derived from the African shea tree, this 100% natural massage balm provides necessary essential elements for the renewal of skin cells."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: This may be the first time I've actually been tempted to lick my hands after moisturizing them. This time of year especially, I feel plagued by dry hands constantly. This luscious, smooth formula practically melts when rubbed into your skin and isn't at all greasy. The result is incredibly soft skin. Don't be afraid to use it everywhere else, too. I haven't used it on my hair, but I have used it on my lips (it's got a slight orange-sweet flavor, but not much) and my arms and legs and the comforting softness is a real relief for parched skin.
Retail Price: $38.00 (sephora.com - and you can also get a smaller travel-sized container in-store for $9.00 to try)

New! Bibo Cosmetics Apparition Illuminating Face Powder
What They Say: "This shimmery gradation of color, from the palest pink to the deepest mauve, is perfect for highlighting. It creates a subtle, yet eye-catching highlight on eyes, nose or cheeks."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: Let's be honest here...I'm not what you'd call a "huge" fan of shimmer typically. Therefore, I generally shy away from products that use that word. That fear was unfounded in this case, as it's really a barely noticeable faint sheen that adds quite a pretty dimension to your face. I love that I can swipe my brush over the highlighter shade for the browbone, upper eyelids, or above the cheekbones but can also use the pinkish-bronze colors to add some healthy glow. This superfine powder also has a fabulous texture that goes on incredibly smooth and looks flawless. It really does give you a radiant, polished look.

Malin + Goetz Body Moisturizer
What They Say: "Our oil-free, residue-free body moisturizer scientifically synthesizes natural vitamin b5 and soothing bergamot extract with absorbent fatty acids for performance. Naturally hydrates and ph balances all skin types, unlike traditionally greasy, pore-clogging oils and wax and silicone fillers. No slick or slippery false sense of moisturize. A nourishing treatment that eliminates wait-time for dressing. Natural fragrance and color. Easily integrated into daily maintenance and prevention regimen."
Jen's Experience:As soon as the air gets cooler and drier, my skin starts getting drier and I have to break out some serious moisturizer for my body. I like the shea butter moisturizers because they seem to last a really long time. What I don't like is how they don't absorb into my skin quickly (if at all) so my clothes seem to stick to my skin.
Well this year, there's a new moisturizer in my cabinet to cure my dryness and ashy legs: Malin + Goetz's incredible Vitamin B5 Body Moisturizer. After I smooth it on, I can feel my skin drinking it up. It makes my skin feel so soft and it calms the redness that often accompanies dry skin. And it really lasts! If I put it on before I go to work, when I undress at night, my skin is smooth with just a trace of the moisturizer itself protecting my skin.
And the scent is absolutely wonderful. Not overpowering, or sweet or cloying. Just a very clean smelling, citrus-y scent that will inspire you to wear it all over your body.

About Malin + Goetz
Malin + Goetz launched their product line in March of 2004 to rave reviews in a stunning array of publications. Matthew Malin (veteran of Kiehl's) and Andrew Goetz (longtime design professional) designed this unisex line of skin care products to use gentle ingredients that are effective for all skin types.
Their cleansers are amino-acid based, so they aren't drying like traditional detergent-based cleansers. By using fatty-acids and fatty alcohols, they've created moisturizers that are oil-free and residue-free. Whether you have dry or oily skin, or a combination of both, their skin care products will clean and moisturize gently and naturally.
In addition to their current window at Barney's New York, Malin + Goetz's facial scrub was most recently featured in the October 2005 issue of Oprah Magazine. But don't get the impression these products are just for the ladies. New York Times Magazine's fall fashion issue suggested buying these products for the man in your life, and back in June, their colognes were featured in Cargo (the male version of Lucky).
With their natural ingredients and botanical fragrances, it's easy to see why Malin + Goetz is getting so much great publicity. This is a line you'll want to try.
