Review: von Natur Absolute Facial Crème Cleanser
What They Say: “Nourish dry skin while cleansing impurities out of maturing skin. With amazing antioxidants and moisture retention ingredients, skin will show a visible improvement. Besides the skin being the largest organ, it is also the largest organ of elimination, so cleansing is one of the most critical steps in maintaining a healthy complexion.”
*Note the Absolute Facial Line is “designed for women suffering from both wrinkles and acne. It works to help smooth the appearance of wrinkles and to clarify, soften, refine and rejuvenate the skin.”
What Lisa Says: This is an interesting cleanser. For those wanting a soap and water, lot o’ bubbles, squeaky clean kind of feeling, this is NOT for you but then, most mature clients aren’t looking for that. It looks, feels and smells like the green clay masks I used to use when I was 16 and my skin was oily. This minty green creamy cleanser does a great job of cleaning your skin and leaves it feeling extremely hydrated but not oily. You can actually see the difference in your pre and post wash.
The finer lines around my eyes and lips were diminished within about a week to 10 days leaving an over all softer look around my eyes. I don’t have acne so I cannot verify those claims but the ingredients in this product lead me to believe that there’s nothing in it that would hurt those who are acne prone. In fact, for the price, I would definitely give it a try if that were one of the things you want to address. It certainly has all the ingredients (including phytoestrogens) to clean and soothe acne prone skin. You can check them out on their website.
Also of note regarding this product: they are cruelty free, certified vegan, non-comedogenic/toxin free, sulfate/paraben free and are made here in the United States.

Review: Estee Lauder Resilience Lift Extreme Ultra Firming Makeup SPF 15
What They Say: "Combining the powerful benefits of revolutionary Resilience Lift Extreme skincare, Estee Lauder brings you its first ever foundation to give skin a more lifted look – Resilience Lift Extreme Ultra Firming Makeup SPF15. This is a totally new way to experience foundation! The luminous liquid makeup delivers beautiful radiant skin that is actively being protected on a daily basis, and looks more lifted with continued use. Flawless skin today, firmer, more youthful looking skin tomorrow.
Containing potent skincare actives, Resilience Lift Extreme Ultra Firming Makeup SPF15 is the most groundbreaking foundation from Estee Lauder to date. Not only does it do everything you would want a foundation to do; go on smoothly and seamlessly, camouflage imperfections, even out skin tone, look natural on the skin, Resilience Lift Extreme Ultra Firming Makeup SPF15 also delivers superior skincare benefits.
Resilience Lift Extreme Ultra Firming Makeup SPF 15 will have a true visible impact on the way your skin will look, from the moment you put it on your skin will look brighter, more radiant, and in as little as four weeks, you will have more lifted looking skin.
Upon application, the superior skincare ingredients, contained in Resilience Lift Extreme Ultra firming Makeup, immediately work to hydrate and improve the skin’s elasticity. Specially treated pigments and light illuminating mica instantly impart a radiant glow to the skin, making it appear smoother and more even. Pores are minimized as fine lines and wrinkles disappear.
In 15 beautiful color-true shades, Resilience Lift Extreme Ultra Firming Makeup’s long wearing formula features a ground-breaking mix of skin-improving ingredients delivering more lift, more moisture and more radiance.
More lift
• Features the revolutionary Extreme Lift Complex containing Triterpenes, Tetra, Hexapeptides and Energy that help skin boost its natural production of collagen for long-term improvement in visible lift.
• Polylift, a protein rich flexible film comprised of Sweet Almond and Vegetable Albumen, immediately works to help skin feel tighter.
More moisture
• Hyaluronic Acid creates a reservoir effect by slowly releasing moisture to keep skin supple and hydrated all day.
• The Lipid Complex of Avocado, Melon Fruit Extract, Cholesterol, Murumuru butter, Ceramides and Linoleic Acid help restore the skin’s natural surface epidermal layer enabling it to better retain moisture and critical skin care ingredients and further protect the skin from harmful environmental aggressors.
More Radiance
• Seigesbecka, a plant extract, helps skin maintain its natural elastin and collagen levels, helping it to maintain a youthful, supported spring.
• Hydrolyzed Collagen and Soy Protein help provide support to the skin helping to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Sunscreen and anti-oxidants provide a protective calming shield for the skin helping to combat the visible effects of daily environmental stressors and sun exposure – all factors that can prevent the skin from accepting and effectively utilizing skincare ingredients.
Resilience Lift Extreme Ultra Firming Makeup SPF 15 is dermatologist tested, non-acnegenic, fragrance free, non-streaking, color true and safe for sensitive skin."
Lisa’s Experience: I was impressed with this product from the onset beginning with the packaging – a hefty, nicely shaped bottle that easily fits in your hand with a pump top that delivers the precise amount. Two pumps and it’s enough product for complete coverage of my entire face with a little extra leftover to build a heavier coverage (which I like). I applied this product with my fingers, a brush and a dampened sponge and, while all were quite satisfactory, I think the brush produces the prettiest results.
The texture is creamy and the color is true. Once on the skin it produces a flawless, hydrated, luminous effect. Not shiney. Just highlighted where you should be with fine lines minimized and barely noticeable. It’s simply beautiful! For those wanting to try Armani’s gorgeous Designer Shaping Foundation but cringe at the price, this is very similar and easier on the pocket book.
I will say that I did not get to use it long enough to see any “lifting” results, however, due to the products ability to hydrate, minimize fine lines and add illumination, I felt like I looked a little more lifted. I will keep using this to see if the lift effect I’m seeing is truly lifting tissue or an illusion of all the properties in this wonderful bottle. Either way, it’s a winner. This is definitely going to be a HG in my personal make-up bag. It’s just that good.
Please Note: I would not recommend this for oilier skin types. It’s very hydrating and works best on normal/dry – dry skin and mature skin types.

Review: Henry Beautiful Anti-Wrinkle Cream and Advanced Formula Eye Cream
What They Say:
(about the Anti-Wrinkle Cream) "This moisturizing anti-wrinkle cream has a superior anti-aging complex that combines collagen supporting peptides and potent antioxidants. It replenishes moisture and diminishes wrinkles, blemishes and fine lines.
Main Active Ingredients:
- Matrixyl 3000 – Combination of peptides that work together to prevent skin damage, improve elasticity of skin and diminish the appearance of wrinkles.
- Licorice Root Extract – An antioxidant with the anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. A powerful skin lightener that aids in evening skin pigmentation.
- Dry Marine Collagen – Naturally obtained proteins that provide the skin the amino acid it needs to make its own collagen and help the skin retain moisture.
- Coenzyme Q10 – Antioxidant, provides energy for cell growth resulting in decreased wrinkle depths and increased oxidation levels.
- BioAstin – Powerful antioxidant with anti-inflammatory properties. It has 550 times the antioxidant activity of Vitamin E.
- Retinol – Accelerates cellular renewal. Increases collagen and elastin and improves skin pigmentation, fine limes and wrinkles."
(about Advance Formula Eye Cream) "This nourishing cream contains firming peptides and multiple antioxidants. It’s liquid crystal formula feeds protective moisture into the delicate skin around the eyes.
Main Active Ingredients:
- Matrixyl 3000 – Combination of peptides that work together to prevent skin damage, improve elasticity of skin and diminish the appearance of wrinkles.
- Liquid Crystals – A unique, lipid-based crystalline complex that penetrates deeply into the skin to moisturize, strengthen and help protect the tissues.
- Spin Trap – A highly specialized and powerful antioxidant that protects healthy tissues from free radical damage. Converts rogue oxygen free radicals to useful oxygen and uses it in tissue respiration.
- Coenzyme Q10 – Antioxidant, provides energy for cell growth resulting in decreased wrinkle depths and increased oxidation levels"
Lisa’s Experience: I was looking forward to trying this line as I not only had some hydration issues this winter that exacerbated the fine lines around my eyes, I also have some darker pigmentation areas on my cheeks and I wanted to take advantage of the licorice root extract as well as the retinol in this cream.
The directions say to use the Anti-Wrinkle product once or twice daily and I found it best used only at night as my foundation tended to “ball up” if used in the a.m. It does take a little while to penetrate so those who use this in the morning might want to wait 15-20 minutes before applying make-up. This thick pink cream did leave my skin feeling extremely soft and silky feeling. I don’t have a lot of wrinkles on my face so the anti-wrinkle properties were minimal for me. I did, however, notice a slight decrease in my pigmentation but not a total disappearance. For those looking for a quick fix, it does take more than just a couple of weeks to see any difference. Licorice root takes a while longer than hydroquinone or some of the other lighteners on the market.
It’s a nice moisturizer that does provide great antioxidant properties and some pigmentation lightening over time, but consistency is the key word here. For those who are looking for one product that performs several tasks at a reasonable price, this might be the anti-wrinkle cream for you. It has a soft, pleasing fragrance reminiscent of a light floral and doesn’t clash with other fragrances, nor does it linger more than a few minutes.
I was far more impressed by the Advanced Formula Eye Cream. This little pump bottle delivered a thicker than average white cream that penetrated the skin quickly delivering a smoother, hydrated look to the eye area. Fine lines were diminished and the delicate skin in that area felt soothed, smoothed and moisturized. It held up its moisture-retaining qualities throughout the next day. I found that the longer I used it, the longer the results seemed to last. Foundation and concealer smoothed on beautifully the next morning, and there were even days when I applied in the a.m. as well and had no problems with make-up or wear.
Retail Prices:
Anti-Wrinkle Cream $40.00 for 2 oz
Advanced Formula Eye Cream $32.00 for .5 oz

Review: Avia Royal Night Complex (for Dry/Sensitive/Mature Skin Types)
What They Say: A light textured, highly concentrated blend of natural ingredients and botanical extracts. The combination of multiple hydrating, revitalizing and anti-aging agents are encapsulated in our unique multi-layer Liposomes which balance the natural moisture factor of the skin with a continuous time-release action. Softens fine lines and minimizes the appearance of deep wrinkles.
Main Eastern Ingredient: Royal Jelly – regenerative & anti-aging
Main Western Ingredient: Vitamin E – anti-oxidant & healing
Other active Ingredients: Sweet Almond Oil, Soja Glycine, Olive Fruit Oil, Sodium Hyaluronate, Shea Butter, Rosehip Oil, Ginkgo Biloba, Vitamin A.
Lisa’s Experience: Avia Royal Night Complex comes in a 1.7 oz. plastic container with a pump dispenser and clear plastic top. The pump does turn and lock making it a no-brainer for traveling. Like the cream I reviewed a few weeks ago from the same line, the product itself is a thick creamy ivory colored moisturizer with a light “powdery” scent. I personally didn’t care for the smell but those liking something soft will love it. When it came to performance of Avia Royal Night Complex I did like it a little better than the Intensive Hydration, which is from the same line.
I could tell right away that this was going to be a “night time only” product for me just as the label implies. I smoothed on enough to cover my face, neck and décolleté and climbed into bed wondering what changes I might see to my skin in a few weeks. The formula is a bit waxy-feeling and I had my doubts as to whether it would soak in by morning, but soak in it did – at least most of it. My skin felt soft and hydrated with a very slight bit of product residue still on top. Nothing a good morning face cleansing couldn’t remedy. I primed and made up my face and did fine throughout the day with my regular moisturizer underneath but found I didn’t feel quite moisturized all day.
In all fairness, it’s been cold and windy all over the country - unusually so in many parts. It could be that Old Man Winter is just making it hard for us all to stay nice and hydrated or it could be that this product isn’t the right one for me. For the time being I think I’ll go back to my tried and true moisturizers that I know handle the weather, heating, wind, etc. but I did give this product an extra lippie for the softness I felt each morning upon awakening. Though I saw no difference in my fine lines or wrinkles, my skin was very soft after use.

Review: Avia Intensive Hydration
Hi, DeLush Readers! We'd love for you to welcome our newest addition to the DeLush Review Panel, Lisa. Lisa is 48 and lives in Dallas, Texas. You may have chatted with her in the DeLush Forum, as she's participated a lot there. We will have a bio page and sidebar info up for her shortly, but we are glad to have her help us to expand our reviewing range here at DeLush. And without further delay, here is Lisa's very first DeLush review!
What They Say: "Avia intensive Hydration is a special homogenous formula fortified with marine extracts, vitamins, and anti-aging ingredients, especially formulated to soften the skin, and improve the tone and texture. The appearance of fine lines and wrinkles is improved by promoting cell renewal. The ingredients are encapsulated in our unique multi-layer Liposomes that quickly deliver them into the skin and have a continuous time-release action.
Main Eastern ingredient: Rosehip Oil – calming & smoothing
Main Western ingredient: Shea Butter – hydrating & sun protection
Other active ingredients: Soma Glycine, Sweet Almond Oil, Seaweed Extract, Bladderwrack Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Royal Jelly, Glycine, L-Proline, Alanine"
Lisa’s Experience: I’ve been using Avia’s Intensive Hydration every morning for several weeks. The product comes in a 1.7 oz. plastic container (which is great for traveling), has a pump dispenser and clear plastic top. The product itself is a thick creamy ivory colored moisturizer. While the scent is light, I found it to be reminiscent of older smelling creams reminding me more of “grandmotherly” type fragrances as opposed to some of the other products on the market. I personally didn’t care for the smell but those liking something soft and powdery will love it.
As far as performance, I was disappointed in this product. It smoothes over the skin nicely but after waiting about 15 minutes for it to absorb before applying make-up, I still had a greasy or waxy feeling as if the product didn’t totally absorb into the skin. Even after using a primer, I found my make-up did not go on as smooth or stay on nearly as long and I developed some “shine” far earlier in the day than usual. As far as changes in my skin, I didn’t see any measurable differences. In all honesty, it’s a bit too early to see how it passes the mark on fine line and wrinkle reduction but I really didn’t see any appreciable difference in the tone or texture of my skin.
For those who like a thick, creamy, almost cold cream type of feeling, you might give this a try. I found the Shea Butter a little too much for me. I’m afraid I’ll have to pass on this one.

Review: NEW! Cover Girl Advanced Radiance Restorative Cream Foundation
What They Say: Well, they don't say much...yet. This is so new that Cover Girl doesn't have any information about it online currently, but that doesn't mean I can't tell you a little bit about it. Its big plug is that it contains Olay® ingredients. Also, being from the Advanced Radiance line, it's supposed to minimize lines, even skin tone, and supposedly make your skin look younger in three weeks.
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: This new addition to the line of Cover Girl's Advanced Radiance line makes a good first impression. The cream has a whipped texture and feels wonderful going on. I actually was impressed with the way it glided onto my skin and how the foundation was incredibly smooth but not greasy.
I was even okay with it for a while afterward, too. It didn't seem to fade and did make my skin look moisturized and feel comfortable. But as a couple of hours passed I noticed a slight bit of extra shine on my forehead and nose (the areas where I always notice oiliness first), so this probably isn't for you if you have very oily skin and you should watch how your skin reacts if you're a combo gal and you want to give it a try. When I used a little bit of powder on top to set it on those areas this problem was not nearly as noticeable.
Upon closer examination while wearing, I also would notice that the foundation seemed to settle a bit into fine lines underneath my eyes and in my smile area.
I suppose that the benefits the foundation touts are mostly due to the nourishing effects of the constant moisturization as you wear it. However, the makeup part of the formula just isn't quite perfected. If you've got many lines or wrinkles, I don't think this is for you either, as you'll probably get unwanted emphasis. For those of us who are just getting first age signs, this may work as a very comfortable, moisturizing, luminous formula if you make sure to be sparing as you apply it on trouble areas and perhaps set it with a bit of powder. For a drugstore option, it's not the worst...but it's not the best.

Apivita Aromatherapy Age Management Face Cream
What They Say: "Benefits: Offers anti-aging protection and deep hydration. Tones and revitalizes skin while protecting from harmful UV rays.
Active Ingredients: Orange, lemon and nutmeg essential oils, ginkgo biloba, white tea and green tea extracts, osmopour, unicotrozon."
Jen's Experience: When I first got this product, I was totally impressed. Great, botanical ingredient list, gorgeous packaging including a nice big glass jar, all for a pretty reasonable price. Although the smell is really lovely and the cream feels good when I apply it, I am really disappointed in this face cream overall. I have to use a ton of it to cover my face, and even still, my skin just drinks it right in, leaving my skin feeling dry moments after I apply it. Applying foundation overtop is like applying it over my bare skin; I wish it had just the slightest amount of slip to it. Perhaps this is better for those with normal or oily skin, but this is definitely not a product I recommend if you've got dry skin.

Guest Review: DuWop Shadow Lift
What They Say: "With revolutionary anti-aging and skin perfecting ingredients, gorgeous pigment, and fine shimmer, Shadowlift helps firm the eyelid and provides a creamy, shimmery, finish with beautiful color."
Jeannette's Experience: I've never used another anti-aging eyeshadow, so this was something I was anxious to try. Duwop's Shadow Lift eyeshadow claims to help firm the eyelid and provide a creamy, shimmery finish, using the cutting edge anti-aging ingredients with the finest moisturizers and shimmery pigment. Their formula includes anti-oxidants, including vitamins E and C, anti-inflammatory ingredients, and skin tightening ingredients such as marine collagen which boost collagen production and firm the skin to provide instant tightening.
I am in my early 50's and have been using an eye primer that tightens and firms the eyelid so I was ready to try this without my primer to see what it would do. It comes in 4 basics shades and I tried a shimmery gray called "Sun Tide".
Just one small pump of this liquid shadow does it. After applying to lid and crease I was a little concerned because the color was so intense. I like using softer shades now that I'm older. After a few minutes the color toned down to a soft shimmer. So loved that, and not to much shimmer either!! My eyelids are always hot in the morning and puffy. Upon application there was a slight cooling for me. That is not one of the things they say it does, but I noticed that. I also noticed about 10 minutes later that the swelling on my eyelids diminished. It worked as well as my eye primer but with the convenience of one step with color.
The color stayed soft and lasted all day for me. With all the good ingredients plus moisturizing, there has to be long term benefits. It is hard to find something that you can put on your eyelid that is also anti-aging that also works as an eyeshadow! Eye make-up that is anti-aging too? I think women who are looking to fight the signs of aging will be pleased with this product!

Review: Bioelements Probotix Anti-aging Serum
What They Say:
- Intensive overnight treatment
- Contains a blend of probiotic actives immersed in nourishing milk proteins to help prevent wrinkles and loss of firmness
- Creates an environment within the skin that allows it to regain its natural microflora balance and become more age-resistant
- Clinical testing on topical probiotics shows that it helps strengthen skin, enabling it to resist aging at every stage of the process - from early to mature
No artificial colorants.
No synthetic fragrance.
Not tested on animals.
Jen's Experience: Sometimes it's hard to tell if skin care products are really doing what they're supposed to be doing, since everything you put on your face from your cleanser to your foundation can affect your skin in one way or another. Plus, how can you tell if something is making your skin more age-resistant?
Well, what I do know is that it's certainly not all the Halloween candy or my general stress level that is making my skin look so clear right now. I've been using this serum in the evenings for about a month now after cleansing and before my nightly moisturizer, and for the most part, my other skincare products and foundation cosmetics have remained pretty much the same. The most noticable difference to me is that in the past month, my skin feels much less dry. My night-time moisturizer seems to be working better as a result of this serum. I've also noticed that my skin is less irritable, resulting in a more even skintone. My skin is just healthier looking. If better-moisturized skin and clearer skin are the keys to anti-aging, they've definitely got a winner here. But even if the results I'm seeing don't slow the aging process, I still think this serum is still an excellent choice for your skin care routine to improve the overall appearance of your skin.

Guest Review: Arbonne NutriMinC® RE9 REversing Gelée Transforming Lift
What They Say: "With Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, a stable form of vitamin C, is readily absorbed by the skin and promotes production of collagen, elastin and ground substance. Use this formula in the morning or on a special occasion for giving your skin a temporary “lift.” ( 1.5 fl. oz./44.36 mL )"
Jeannette's Experience: I was excited to try this lift. At age 51, I'm always anxious to find something that will perk up my skin.
The directions say to apply after cleansing and toning and then wait a few minutes before applying moisturizer. After a few minutes I did feel a tightening and firming. It really gave me a refreshing feeling. I was concerned that it might flake like others I have tried in the past, but it did not. The tightness did soften when I applied my moisturizer, but I was very impressed at the end result after applying make-up. This definitely is not a dramatic look. It just gave me a natural toned and more youthful look. I just kept noticing during the day that I looked more rested and refreshed than I normally do. My skin seemed toned.
This product has healthy long term benefits too, for production of skin collagen and elasticity. It contains a stable form of Vitamin C, and it is absorbed well by the skin. Most products with Vitamin C irritate my sensitive skin but this did not. It seems to last most of the day for me, and my skin felt very natural and soft. I think it would be a great product for days you wake up feeling tired, or for that special occasion you want to look your very best!
Retail Price: $35.00 (arbonne.com - but you need your own arbonne rep to purchase, so fill out the info to have one contact you) Thank you Shelley Belin for providing DeLush and our guest reviewer with samples! You can contact Shelley at sbelin@houston.rr.com.

Guest Review: Estee Lauder Perfectionist Power Correcting Patch for Deeper Lines & Wrinkles
What They Say: "Product Details: In just 20 minutes, see something you thought could never happen. The years around your eyes seem to disappear. Without a single doctor's visit. Without a single injection.
Estée Lauder Research brings you a highly targeted approach to dramatically reduce the look of eye lines and wrinkles and give the eye area an incredibly smoother, years-younger look.
Powered by a gentle micro-current of energy, these patches continuously release a combination of proven ingredients, including a powerful Bio-Peptide directly to the eye area to boost skin's natural collagen production.
WORKS ON DEMAND
See a dramatic reduction in the look of prominent eye lines and wrinkles right away. In a clinical test, over 88% of panelists showed an immediate reduction in the look of lines and wrinkles.
Effects are lasting, with most users still experiencing the look of wrinkle reduction from a single use after 24 hours.
This on-demand success makes Perfectionist Power Correcting Patch a must-have when you've got that important meeting, a wedding or any special occasion when you want--need--instant results
WORKS CONTINUOUSLY
Jump-start a younger look with an intensive 5-day power treatment, using Power Correcting Patch once a day along with Perfectionist [CP+] Correcting Serum for Lines/Wrinkles/Age Spots every day, AM and PM.
In just 5 days, the look of lines and wrinkles is reduced by 45%.
Then maintain your youthful look by using the Power Correcting Patch once a week, along with the Serum every day, AM and PM. In just 4 weeks, a clinical test proved the look of deeper eye lines and wrinkles is reduced by 70%.
You and everyone around you will be amazed when you harness the power of Perfectionist.
HOW TO USE PERFECTIONIST POWER CORRECTING PATCH
Apply on clean, dry skin as follows:
1. Peel off protective backing.
2. Place each patch at least ¼ inch away from eyes as shown on packette. Make sure the entire patch adheres to face. Leave on for 20 minutes. Some users may experience a mild tingling sensation which signals treatment is in progress.
3. Remove and discard.
Jeannette's Take: I am in my early 50's so that means I'm into a more aggressive attack on the signs of aging. So I was very excited to try Estee Lauders Perfectionist Power Correcting Patch. I have very sensitive dry skin with some lines and wrinkles. After applying the patches I felt a very slight tingling and some warmth - but very slight. At this first use, I was experiencing puffy eyes due to allergies and was very tired and it showed. After the 20 minutes was up the first thing that I noticed was how awake and refreshed I looked! Just looking tired at this age really ages you, so I was pleasantly surprised!! I was not expecting that. Also it addressed the bags under the eyes due to my allergies. The skin around my eyes seemed tighter and more smooth.
Over all I was impressed. You are to use the patches every day for one week and then once a week there after. I plan to continue using them once a week and would like to incorporate the Perfectionist CP+1 with Poly-Collagen Peptides Correcting Serum that Estee Lauder recommends you use with it. I will probably lean on them heavily on those days I look tired, it was most impressive how refreshed I looked!
Retail Price: 3 pairs for $50; 8 pairs for $100 (at esteelauder.com and select department stores)
