About Your DeLush Reviewers: Lisa
Hair: Medium thickness, very curly and prone to frizziness. Currently, it's a dark sable brown. I also love to have fun with wigs, extensions, hairpieces, etc.
Eyecolor: Hazel
Age: 48
Skin Tone: Medium with yellow undertones
Skin Type: Normal. As an esthetician I've worked hard to normalize my skin type. Plus, I'm at an age where hormonally, I'm changing from normal to a slightly drier complexion. In winter my skin can be extra dry if not taken care of properly. I also have those pesky hereditary dark circles like Melissa. Sun damage is my biggest problem stemming from youthful years spent hanging by the pool or going to the beach without considering the damage I was doing to my skin.
As a child, gifts of make-up and body care treatments were commonplace in our house and I loved it! There's nothing better than opening a box knowing it had the latest greatest color, or fragrance or skin softening potion. I became a product junkie early on. Even as I set about getting my Bachelors in Science I knew that upon graduation I would become involved in the beauty industry. That was 28 years ago and I'm still here.
I started out as a manicurist and make-up artist and realized there was much more I wanted to do. I obtained a license in Esthetics and went to a make-up academy and combined all the arts of my trade into my own business: Vanity Confidential. Though I now limit my practice to skin care and make-up artistry, as an owner/operator I feel that continuing education in this fast paced and, often times, highly technological field is a must. Just as the equipment used is changing the health of our skin, so too is the skin care and cosmetics that we apply. One of the great things I LOVE about DeLush is that all of these wonderful products are reviewed by everyday women with honest and open opinions, and I thank Melissa and Jen for being able to be part this wonderful group of eclectic reviewers!
I'm a firm believer in having a great canvas upon which to put your paint. While the right make-up for your skin type is essential, good clear skin helps you minimize how much foundation you need and can make drugstore brands look like upscale varieties allowing you to spend more time playing with color rather than trying to create a flawless face.
What kind of products am I particularly addicted to? Skin brighteners, any kind of eyelashes -- strips or individuals, dark circle concealors/lighteners, lip pencils & lipsticks (oh yeah!), blushes. I love anything with color! I also like anything that helps to fade the sun damage. Highlighters, dark eye shadows, upscale and spa related skin care lines or body treatments. I love any product that will either help me make peace with my curls or that will straighten my hair with the least amount of muss & fuss. I'm game to try anything!
